How to make easy squishies - ideas, drawings for squishies
Squishies are original anti-stress toys designed for children. They can be crushed and squeezed as you please, as long as the toy is of good quality and nothing will happen to it. After all, the dented filler should return to its original shape, without any signs of deformation. This is done so that a person can do whatever he wants with this thing, and this function calms many people down quite well. And bright colors lift the mood of even the gloomiest person.
There are similar toys of different shapes and sizes. Some create the likeness of stuffed animals. Sometimes you can meet skiwishes of some fantastic creatures. Food-shaped crafts are also incredibly popular. Here are some striking examples; perhaps you will like something and want such a small miracle for yourself.
Examples of squishies
Many people will immediately ask how to make a blank for such wonderful toys. You can, of course, draw it yourself. To do this, you just need a little imagination and a well-sharpened pencil. And even if nothing comes to your mind, you can always find something on the Internet and draw it. But in the case when you are not entirely confident in your skills as an artist, there is always the opportunity to simply print out the finished work. They can also be found on the Internet, and all you need to do is print the template, transfer the outline to the selected material, cut out the parts, sew or glue them, and fill them with the selected filler.

How to make paper squishies with your own hands?
Paper squishies
Paper is one of the most affordable materials that anyone can get. And it so happened that most of these toys at home are made from paper. And if you think it's too difficult to make yourself, you can find thousands of tutorials on YouTube where people make these toys in all shapes and sizes. To do this, you don't need special tools, just paper, scissors, a little tape and something soft for filler.
Paper squishies - instructions:
- Take a simple piece of A4 paper
- Using a pencil we draw the shape of our future toy. Next you need to color your drawing.
- Or instead of all this, you can print such a blank on a color printer
- Fold the paper in half so that the image is on the front side
- Using transparent tape, you need to carefully cover the resulting workpiece.
- Next, using small strips of tape, you need to glue the two halves together, leaving one hole
- Through this hole we fill the toy with filler and seal the craft to the end. For more information on how to make squishies, see the video below.
Foamiran squishies
Necessary materials:
- foamiran (a couple of multi-colored sheets);
- non-writing pen;
- paper milk carton template;
- glue;
- scissors;
- filler;
- pencil;
- black acrylic paints.
Foamiran squishy filler:
- sponge;
- foam balls;
- cotton wool;
- padding polyester;
- foam rubber
Manufacturing instructions:
- We apply the box template to a sheet of foamiran and trace the outline with a non-writing pen. Cut it out. Focusing on the outline, we make folds on the foamiran and glue the shape of a milk box along them, leaving the top open.
- Through the open hole we fill the figure (if the filler is a sponge, then it must be cut to the shape of the toy). We bend the top of the box and seal it, like a real cardboard box with milk.
- We decorate. On a narrow strip of foamiran of a different color, draw with a pencil an imitation of flowing drops. Cut it out and glue it to the bottom of the box, decorated side up. From a material of the same color as the squishies, cut out a thin strip and glue it to the box in the middle of foamiran of a different color. Using acrylic paints we paint the eyes and mouth on the top part.
How to make squishies from a sponge at home?
Sponge squishies
A sponge is an equally common item that can be found in every home. Many people like these kinds of toys much more than those made from paper. This happens because many people are attracted by the less hassle of working with a sponge. And in the minds of a large number of people there lives the idea that an initially soft object will be the best material for an anti-stress toy.
Sponge squishies - instructions:
- Making a blank for a future toy, for example, a cake
- You can take one large sponge and cut out the desired shape, or you can make one from scratch by gluing together several cosmetic sponges
- We paint our base with ordinary paints
- Our cake needs icing, and it needs to be prepared. Mix glue, shaving foam and dye in one bowl
- We water the workpiece with this substance
- Our craft will take about two days to dry.
- Once the glaze has dried, you can use the craft for its intended purpose. For more information on how to make squishies, see the video below.
Ideas for making squishy toys
You can buy a ready-made toy, or even better, make it together with your child. You can choose any option from those proposed, and, if your experience in making toys allows, you have the opportunity to come up with something yourself, using images available on the Internet as a basis.
It all depends on the flight of fancy and the availability of the necessary materials.
Before you make a toy, it doesn’t hurt to look for ideas for paper squishies—it’s recommended that you learn how to make toys from this material.
The design of the product you like is selected, materials and equipment for the work are purchased.
Paper
Beautiful squishies can be made from paper. It is enough to prepare all the materials at hand and use the instructions for creating an anti-stress toy. Many people think that the main thing when making a squishy is to find the ideal filler so that the toy is anti-stress and meets the functionality. Of course, but we must not forget about the external components of the toy. If nothing comes to mind, ideas for paper squishies will come to the rescue. You can put any image on paper, which will be cut out and then used as a basis for crafts. During production, it is taken into account for whom the toy will be made; one should rely on the level of skill in making the craft, so it makes sense to choose several options.
From cotton wool
The product is made in the traditional way: an image is selected, the base is cut out. The differences are that cotton wool is chosen as a filler.
Without tape
To make squishies without tape, a film covering is selected for the base, and fastening is done with a stapler. In this case, the product will last a long time.
From the cover
To make squishies from a cover, follow the following steps:
- A model of the product is made from paper: the outline and main lines of the figure are drawn, the image is cut out. Afterwards, a stencil is placed under the cover, folded in several layers, and the outline of the figure is drawn on both sides of the squishy with a marker. The product is cut along the contour.
- The filler is being prepared. Dry pastel is grated to a powder form. You should opt for bright colors. The filler is divided into parts and sprinkled with powder of different colors. The pastel is rubbed into the material. You can put the pastel in a bag and crush it so that the material becomes colored. Glitter is added.
- Both sides of the cover are carefully taped. A small hole is left for the filler. Colored wool is laid in layers to obtain a beautiful transition. The part that is not sealed is covered with tape. Permanent marker is used for beautiful inscriptions.
From sponge or foam rubber
To make squishies from spongy material or foam rubber, do the following:
- The edges of the sponge are trimmed and given the desired shape.
- The figure is impregnated with gouache to match the color of the dough. The sponge is given time to dry.
- Preparation of the cream: mix a small amount of glue, shaving foam and a few drops of coloring pigment. Everything is thoroughly mixed.
- A creamy mass is laid out on the dried surface of the sponge base. If desired, decorated with sparkles and sequins. Allow time to dry.
From a plastic bag
There is nothing complicated when making squishy from a plastic bag, just follow the proposed algorithm:
- The sharp corner of the bag is filled and shaped into a cone. This part is secured with an elastic band and a ball is made. The end of the ball is twisted, cut, and sealed with tape. The result is a figure like an ice cream cone.
- The finished product is covered with multi-colored tape. The color of the horn is flesh-colored, light brown. Using felt-tip pens, a grid is drawn, like a waffle. The ball is decorated with multi-colored spirals.
Made from silicone
A little vegetable oil is poured into a deep container. A little silicone is squeezed out here, the mass is kneaded with your hands until it becomes plastic. The procedure is repeated. You should get several silicone balls.
Silicone is laid out according to the shape of the product. Afterwards, the mass dries. After the mixture has dried, you can begin painting.
Using the second method, you can make the head of an animal. Silicone dough is mixed with starch.
From jelly
Before you make skivshi from jelly, you should prepare it. After the jelly has hardened, you can start making squishy.
From socks or tights
If squishies are made from tights, their “legs” are first cut off. The “legs” are inserted one into the other. The edges of the open part are sewn up, leaving a hole for the filling.
The base is filled and secured with an elastic band. The figure is turned over, eyes are attached to it (you can draw it with a marker).
Small parts are made using silicone rubber bands.
From sealing harness
The harness is cut into several cylinders (rolls). The edge of the figure is painted over with black paint. Small red dots are applied to the walls. Allow time for the paint to dry.
Small pieces are cut off from the sealing strand and painted in different colors (filling for the roll).
The filling is placed in the central part of the roll and fixed with hot glue.
Made from plasticine
Balls are made from plasticine of various colors. Each figure is flattened and details are made. Painting blanks. The craft is given time to dry.
From a ball
The bottle is filled with foam balls. The balloon is inflated and placed around the neck of a plastic container.
The filler is poured from the bottle into the ball. The ball is removed from the bottle and excess air is removed.
The ball is tied and a face is drawn.
From rice flour
You can make squishy soap using rice flour. For this:
- A few tablespoons of flour and liquid soap are added to the container. Everything gets mixed up.
- Most of them have food coloring added to them. The desired shape is given.
- Another dye is added to the remainder. If you need to cut out small parts, use a knife. To connect the parts, they need to be laid on top of each other and pressed.
- If there is some dough left, you can make decorations - balls and stripes.
- The finished product is steamed in a water bath for 5 minutes and cooled.
From foamiran
The template is applied to a sheet of foamiran and traced along the contour. The workpiece is cut out. Based on the images, folds are made on the foamiran, the figure is glued along them, the top remains open.
Through the hole, the craft is filled with filler. The top is folded down and sealed.
The finished product is decorated.

Slime - funny "dad" squishy
To understand what squishies are, you need to understand what slime is. After all, it was with him that their story began.
After the premiere of the famous film "Ghostbusters", Mattel released the Slime toy. This funny jelly-like mass quickly gained popularity all over the world. In Russia, the name “slime” did not catch on: it was called “lizun”. This is because this is exactly what the name of the main ghost from the legendary film sounded like in translation.
Lizuny were at the peak of popularity both in the 90s and at the beginning of the 2000s. Now they are back in fashion. Popular bloggers have repeatedly released videos about what tricks you can do with slimes. We also told you how to make slime with your own hands at home. We advise you to read our article - it’s really interesting fun.
What is squishy
Squishy (from the English squishy - “squishy”) is a type of slime toy. It differs from slime in three main characteristics:
- Squishies do not stick to hands or other surfaces. The main “function” of slime is exactly the opposite.
- The toys have a pleasant smell, which intensifies with prolonged kneading. Most often this is the aroma of bubble gum, fruit, famous carbonated drinks, etc.
- Squishies always return to their original shape - this is their main advantage.
The homeland of squishy has not been established for certain. It is generally accepted that they originated in Japan. Mass production of toys was established in the USA at the instigation of the McLachlan brothers. More than $6.5 million was invested in the project, sales were launched on Kickstarter in 2022. From that moment on, interest in squishies began to grow rapidly.
Classic toys come in three types:
- Rubber, having the greatest resemblance to slimes.
- Foamed, similar in composition to a sponge.
- Transparent with gel, filled with a colored substance that spreads and forms patterns inside the squishy.
However, today there are toys made from other materials. Many have learned to make them with their own hands.

Color your squishy with markers. Let it sit for a day to dry completely.
How to make squishies quickly without tape?
Squishies without tape
As was said earlier, paper is the most popular material for creating such toys. But many people don’t like the presence of adhesive tape in this venture. For many, this is a means of making temporary repairs rather than creating something new. Such people can be easily reassured, since the hated tape is easily replaced with ordinary glue.
Squishies without tape - instructions:
- Take a piece of paper and fold it in half
- Drawing the intended template
- Cutting the workpiece with scissors
- Next we make small strips of paper
- We connect the halves of our toy using strips of paper pre-lubricated with glue. Don't forget to leave a hole

How to make 3D squishies out of paper?
3D paper squishies
3D paper squishies
People don’t always like simply glued, almost flat, even though they are soft toys. There are similar crafts especially for them. Although such a product requires more time and resources, many are willing to make such sacrifices. The result will surprise anyone, since such a toy is more beautiful than others, and others perceive such a product as something of a higher class in comparison with other crafts.
3D paper squishies instructions:
- We print a ready-made template, or draw it ourselves
- Cut out all the necessary parts
- We are coloring our crafts
- We cover the entire surface of each part with transparent tape.
- Glue all the parts except one side
- We fill our toy with filler and glue it to the end; if you want, you can decorate it with some details on top of the finished product. For more information on how to make squishies, see the video below.
DIY squishies made of polyethylene
If you understand how to make squishes with your own hands from paper, then you can easily build an anti-stress toy from polyethylene. It is better if it is dense material, for example, the cover of a school textbook or notebook.
The work is done in the same way:
- a figure is cut out of two parts;
- glued with tape (but not completely);
- filled with soft plastic material (foam rubber, padding polyester, etc.);
- the remaining area is sealed.
Please note that in this case you do not need to cover the entire surface of the parts with tape, since polyethylene is much stronger than paper. Only the edges of the parts are glued together with tape.
If the polyethylene is opaque, then you can simply draw a funny face on it with a marker. If it is translucent, then you can insert colored paper or a picture underneath it.
How to make squishies from foam rubber?
Foam rubber squishies
Foam rubber is also often used to create such toys. Sometimes it can be used as the main material for a future craft, or as a filler if it is crushed into small pieces. Although this material is quite soft, you can immediately notice that it is incredibly sponge-like. And you will be right, because most often foam rubber is used to replace a sponge when it is not possible to use it.
Foam rubber squishies - instructions:
- Take a piece of foam rubber, preferably light in color
- Using a knife, we give the material the shape of a future toy.
- We remove all irregularities with scissors so that the workpiece is smooth.
- Mix gouache and glue in equal parts
- We completely cover our figure with an even layer of the resulting mixture
- Let the workpiece dry and, if necessary, decorate it. For more information on how to make squishies, see the video below.
Rice flour squishy soap
Necessary materials:
- white or clear liquid soap;
- rice flour;
- food coloring;
- knife
Step-by-step manufacturing instructions:
- Put 4 tablespoons of rice flour, 2 tablespoons of liquid soap into a plate and mix everything. Divide the resulting dough into two parts, one should be larger than the other.
- Add a couple of drops of light orange food coloring to most of the future squishy and make a ball out of it. To make it more like a donut, flatten the ball and make a hole in the middle.
- Add a little pink dye to the smaller part of the dough and roll it into a thin layer. Using a knife, cut a hole in the middle the same as the donut. We cut out an outline along the edges, like icing. Carefully place this part on the “donut” and press a little so that both parts stick together.
- If there is any unused dough left over from the icing, divide it into small pieces and add dark coloring. Form small balls and stripes from the leftovers. Decorate our squishy soap with this, like sprinkles. In a water bath, steam the “donut” for five minutes over boiling water and let it cool completely. Now you can wash your hands with our squishy soap and knead them in your hands.

Antistress popsicle template
It is very easy to understand how to make such a squishy out of paper. A small squishy, also created with your own hands, will help relieve stress for a person of any age, and will also serve as an excellent toy for a child. And the very creation of a squishy will erase all traces of sadness and irritation. In addition, making squishies develops creative abilities, so parents can safely make them even with kids, the main thing is to be careful with sharp objects.
Before you make such a paper craft, you need to stock up on the following supplies:
- paper;
- scissors;
- scotch;
- a simple pencil;
- soft filler, which can be padding polyester, cotton wool, cut sponge, foam rubber, cut bag, and so on;
- various materials for decoration: pencils, felt-tip pens, markers, crayons, stickers and more.
Now that we have everything we need to start the manufacturing process, let’s look step by step at how to make squishes with your own hands from paper:
- Making a squishy begins with choosing an image with which you can later play.
Anti-stress hamster template
Choose or come up with your own design, the main thing is that you like it and do not cause negative emotions. You should pay attention to the presence of small or thin parts in the design, as this can complicate the stuffing of the toy and impair its functionality. Most often, simple contour drawings are chosen for squishies. It could be a cupcake or donut, a cat, a favorite cartoon character, an emoticon and many other options. Megamaster.info has prepared several templates for you to draw. They can be printed or redrawn from the screen. - Since much of the creative process involves drawing and decorating, it's best to draw and color the image yourself. Of course, it will be very cool if you can come up with your own picture, but you can also draw or translate the image by attaching the sheet to the monitor.
- Wanting to get an even and clear drawing, many people print out a picture where there is only an outline, after which they paint and add details themselves. Well, if for some reason you don’t want to draw and decorate the image with your own hands, you can print a ready-made picture. You should not choose a large image size, otherwise it will be inconvenient to crumple it with one hand, so choose an image approximately the size of your palm.
- Also, do not forget that the toy is double-sided, so it is important to work on the back of the squishy. Since the other side of the toy will be mirrored, it is better to first cut out two identical parts, and then start coloring. But if only the front part of the toy is important to you, the back side can be left white.
- Once the designs for both sides of the squishie have been selected, colored or printed, you need to cut them out. Carefully cut out the pictures along the contour, and then check that both parts of the toy are the same, so that there is no excess paper sticking out anywhere. To make the process easier, you can fold the sheet in half, first draw the front side, and then cut out two identical parts. Only then, if desired, finish the other side. This way the parts of the toy will definitely be the same.
Cover with tape - The next step is to cover the blanks with tape. It is better to use wide tape, so there will be fewer joints on the paper, making the toy look neater. But if there is no wide one, then a narrow one will do.
- We take one blank and carefully glue a strip of tape so that its small edge, about half a centimeter, extends beyond the paper. Then we glue the next strip, slightly overlapping the previous one, so that there are no un-glued areas on the paper. Thus, we glue the entire workpiece on the side that will be outside. It is important to try to do this as carefully as possible so that unnecessary air bubbles and folds do not form under the tape, otherwise the toy may not look very attractive.
- Next, you need to glue the two halves of the future squishy together. For this step, you can use thin tape, but if you don’t have it, then it’s better to cut the wide adhesive tape into two or three parts.
- Place the two halves together and glue them together along the outline. The thinner the strips of tape, the neater it will be. This way, fewer corners will be formed that the adhesive tape creates, so that later the toy will be pleasantly wrinkled, and the sharp corners will not cut into the skin.
It is better to stick the pieces of tape overlapping so that everything is sealed and restores its shape more slowly. You don’t need to seal the squishies completely; you need to leave a small hole to stuff the toy. - Once the squishy part is securely sealed, it’s time to stuff the toy with stuffing. If you use foam rubber or a sponge as a filler, it is better to finely chop the material, so it will turn out softer and will compress more strongly. If you prefer elastic squishies, megamaster.info advises simply cutting a piece of foam rubber to the shape. But in this case, the hole must be large, otherwise it may tear when stuffing.
- Carefully fill the future squishy with soft filling. To distribute the material evenly throughout the toy, you can use thin sticks or a brush.
Cover the hole with tape - It is better not to stuff the squishies very tightly, because they should shrink to a very small size. Although, of course, the degree of density of squishy depends solely on your preferences. The resulting anti-stress should be pleasant for you, calm you down and make you happy.
- Now it's time for the final stage of creating paper squishies. Once the toy is sufficiently filled, you need to seal the remaining hole. This must be done in the same way as described in step number 10.
If you like the squishy to return to its shape slowly, you can leave one tiny gap between two pieces of tape, or not at all. If you like it when the anti-stress takes its previous form faster, you can leave two or three gaps.
Homemade squishy is ready. Try squeezing the toy. If it compresses well and slowly regains its shape, then everything worked out. If the squishy is deflating faster than you'd like, try finding the area where the air is coming out and cover it with an extra piece of tape.
Carry a toy with you, and this homemade anti-stress will help you stay calm in any situation.
