Make a mask using origami technique

Origami (translated from Japanese as “folded paper”) is the ancient art of making different shapes without glue or scissors by folding paper.

To work in the origami technique, you must first master the basic paper modules. By sequentially assembling modules and connecting them together, like a construction set, you can get simple animal masks.

With experience will come the ability to create masks of people and any fantasy and real characters.

Animal faces

Costumes and masks of forest and domestic animals are a common option for holding a matinee. Some children prefer to dress up as cats, dogs, hares and other recognizable animals (bull, goat, wolf). Others want models of less common animals - raccoon, moose, platypus or koala.

A universal option is the “mask of the Year”. It symbolizes the animal according to the eastern calendar. For 2022, the faces of a pig, piglet, and wild boar are relevant. They can be made not only from paper, but also sewn from fabric. Patterns and sewing patterns make it easy to complete the task.

Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking (literally: “scrapbook”) is the handicraft art of making family or personal photo albums. A mask (stencil) for scrapbooking is used to apply a design or create a background.

Using a mask gives additional volume because part of the surface is not painted over. The masks are made of transparent plastic. Use ready-made ones or make them yourself.

The selection of ready-made masks is huge. But if you work with your own hands, this accessory will gain originality and brightness. And the manufacturing process itself is a reason for flights of fancy and creating a fun and creative atmosphere. And it will definitely lift your spirits.

Pictures of pets

Masks are often used for photo shoots. Parents can take funny photos of their child themselves. The look will be created by cat ears with a tail, paper glasses, and a funny hairstyle.

Mouse, goat or chicken masks are suitable for the theater or circus when children are taken to New Year's performances. Older children or parents of preschoolers can make three-dimensional masks according to the drawings. They are put on the head and cover the back of the child's head. Incisions are made for the eyes and nose. Children will like the head of a horse, boar, or donkey as models.

Carnival costumes Fly-Tsokotukha and Komarik

Hello, dear guests! Today I want to show you my latest costumes for a matinee for my youngest six-year-old daughter Katyusha and her friend Vladik. As you already understood, this couple are characters from the fairy tale “The Fly-Tsokotukha” - the Fly and the Mosquito.

The roles they got were very symbolic - the guys are connected by friendship, well, practically love, from birth, or rather even before it))) By the way, Komarik is older than Mukha by as much as 1 day - that’s how it happens)))

This is the kind of Fly I got!

At first Katyusha did not understand the charm of her role. And then the realization that she had a key role + a costume that she really liked made her very flirty and confident)

Well, and, of course, how can gentlemen ignore such a beauty...)))

Everything is according to plan: Mukha found some money, bought a samovar, and is waiting for guests!)))

- Hey, musicians, play more fun!!!

A fly and its friends - a beetle and a ladybug)

Our teachers and their spider beetles, grasshoppers and other midges)

And the same money that started it all!

And now in more detail how I designed and sewed the costumes.

note

This time I decided not to invest much money in a suit, but to use my huge reserves of various goods.

I found this witch dress for Halloween in my arsenal. The dress fit Katya perfectly, but I liked only one detail of it, or rather one main detail - the black bodice and the flaps hanging down the skirt. So - scissors in hand and go ahead and cut the dress)))

In my deposits I found such a beautiful piece of holographic fabric. As I understand it, Mukha’s “gilded belly” is a figurative expression, that is, brilliant. Shiny, so shiny, I said and continued to flog the dress)))

I’ll hide the unnecessary crimson element, in case it comes in handy...)

So much better)

And this is the rear view

The pieces of fabric that hung down the skirt turned out to be pieces of mesh with an image of a web of different colors printed on them. Well, a fly and a web are hostile concepts) But I decided to use the beautiful shreds, veiling the web.

I took 2 pieces of web with 3 colors: green, blue and silver. I stitched each flap in the center and gathered it into a ruffle.

The ruffles were stitched one by one on each side symmetrically. And you can’t see that there is a cobweb, and the decoration on the bodice is suitable)

Katya had a skirt with two black fluffy petticoats. It looked awkward. So I decided that if this skirt has not 2, but one petticoat, she will only benefit from this) A swing of the scissors, and this is what I got - a stripe with a gathered ruffle, along the edge of which there is also a small ruffle.

Since Katya’s mesh skirt is short, I decided to make a yoke from the remnants of black supplex. The yoke is made of 5 pieces; it was necessary to adjust it according to the figure using the poke method.

A little patience, and this is how the ballerina turned out.

Let's figure out what it will look like in the end. A bit boring
