Model No. 1

Even if the origami paper giraffe looks stylized, it is easy to recognize by its characteristic elongated silhouette and spotted color. The pattern on the skin of long-necked giants is as individual as the stripes of a tiger or zebra. In addition, the spots of different subspecies have different colors and shapes, so it is not difficult to distinguish a reticulated giraffe from, for example, a Masai or West African giraffe.

For model No. 1, you will need a square of paper 15x15 cm. Before making an origami giraffe, it is better to immediately apply a “spotted” print on one side of the sheet. Paint by hand or print a ready-made one. The figure is based on the basic Kite mold.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Let's start from the inside out. Bend the square diagonally. Let's reveal.
  2. We fold the right and left edges to the intended diagonal.
  3. We bend the figure in the middle into a “valley”.
  4. Rotate the product approximately 45°.
  5. Open the left side from the inside and make a reverse fold. We bend the edges outward along the dotted line.
  6. We press the bent elements.
  7. We fold the acute angle at approximately 90°. Thus, we separate the head from the neck.

  1. We bring the end inward in the direction of the arrow using a reverse fold.
  2. We bend the right side in a zigzag manner, forming a sloping part of the back.
  3. We bring the corner out to make a tail.
  4. We cut a rectangle at the bottom through both layers of the figure. You get legs.

The figurine is ready. It can be used for cards and as a table decoration.
