I found two ways to make a steering wheel with feedback, one using an arduino leonardo and the other using an STM32F4Discovery.

I decided to start with an arduino, and in the future I’ll probably try the STM32F4Discovery.

Installation

1. Connect the Arduino to the computer, check Start-Control Panel-Device Manager, look at Ports (COM and LPT), if Arduino Leonardo appears there, then everything is fine.

2. Install AI WAVE 2016 wheel config. After installation, run it, “new firmware found” should appear, click yes, the firmware for the Arduino should load automatically. Unfortunately, nothing appeared for me and therefore did not load. I had to use XLOADER to manually load. 3. Launch XLOADER. Let the hex file specify Device - Leonardo 32U4, but the com port must be specified not the one that is now, but the one that will be during Bootloader mode. Here's how to do it: Open Device Manager. Look at the com port that the arduino shows and while doing this, press reset on it. The com port will change, so that’s what you need to specify. The Arduino will be in Bootloader mode for only a few seconds, during which time you need to have time to load the hex file. After you have specified the correct com port, and Bootloader mode has disappeared, click on reset again, and when the com port changes, click on Upload.
