Paper pencil holder

Paper is a wonderful budget material for crafts! The art of origami is wonderful for developing children's brains - it's a real puzzle. There are quite a few options for paper pencil holders - from a simple quadrangular box to complex modular (consisting of several elements) variations.

Reference! Modular origami, unlike classical, involves folding figures from several sheets of paper. Each sheet is folded into a separate element (module), then the parts are connected by gluing or inserting one into the other.

Step-by-step process for creating a modular pencil holder of a simple design:
  • You will need 6 sheets of thick, shiny, bright, double-sided square-shaped colored paper (can be of different colors), scissors, glue.
  • Take one square of colored paper. Fold it in half.
  • Unfold the sheet and fold it in half the other way. Unfold the sheet again.
  • Place the edges of the sheet to the center line, press the folds. Expand the sheet.
  • Place the opposite edges to the second center line and press the folds into place. Expand the sheet. The result was a kind of marking into 16 equal squares.
  • Fold all four corners, placing the corner to the nearest intersection point of the folds.
  • Lay two strips with curved corners to the center line.
  • Turn the rectangular shape over backwards.
  • Fold the short sides up, placing them towards the center line. The result is a square with a diamond-shaped figure in the center.
  • Insert the left strip into the triangular pockets of the right one until it stops to form a three-dimensional triangle.
  • Press all three folds of the triangle again. The first module is ready!
  • Follow the same pattern for the other five elements.
  • If desired, you can insert a corresponding sized piece of colored paper of a different color into the diamond-shaped window of each volumetric triangle.
  • Glue six modules together. Pencil holder with six compartments is ready!

Option 7. Pencil pencil made of fleece and felt

Beautiful and original stand for pencils
To make such an original stand, prepare:

  • tin can;
  • plastic toy eyes;
  • fleece (green and white);
  • pencil;
  • green felt;
  • meter;
  • scissors;
  • a needle;
  • padding polyester;
  • threads;
  • glue gun

Step 1 . Measure the diameter, height and circumference of the tin. From green and white fleece, cut out 2 pieces of the corresponding sizes (height of the can + 5 mm allowance and circumference + allowance).

Paired details and faces with ears

Step 2 . Sew the parts together using a sewing machine or a needle with a backward seam. As a result, you will end up with a pair of blanks, as in the photo - white and green. After turning out the white part, set the cylinders aside.

Step 3 . Make paired parts - muzzles with ears (18 pieces), sew them together, not forgetting to leave holes for stuffing. As a result, you will have 9 such faces. Mark on them the places where the eyes will be attached.

Step 4 . Fill the faces with padding polyester and sew up the holes. Glue plastic eyes in the right places.

Stages of wrapping a can

Step 5 . Wrap the jar with padding polyester, then sew the edges and sew on the bottom of padding polyester. Then take the green fleece piece and place it on the can. Glue padding polyester to the bottom.

Step 6 . Cover the bottom with glue and glue the white fleece piece. Sew the edges of the green and white fleece together using a blind stitch.

Final decor of the pencil holder

Step 7 . Glue the faces to the jar. Then cut out leaves from felt and glue them too. The original pencil stand is ready!

How to make a pencil holder using the cardboard technique

Today I want to share with you a cardboard master class. I'll tell you how to make a pencil holder with your own hands.

Lately I've become interested in cardboard art. Moreover, I did not expect that works made of cardboard could be so strong and in no way inferior to wooden ones. Of course, you need to avoid getting them wet, but wiping them is quite possible. In general, today we will study a master class on how to make a pencil holder in the Provence style using the cardboard technique.

For the work, I used beer cardboard 1.5 mm thick, Moment stick glue, Titan glue, two sheets of Tilda paper, clamps, sandpaper, wax (can be replaced with brown acrylic paint, apply with a slightly dry brush), acrylic paint, watercolor paper, brush, stationery knife, pencil, ruler, cutting mat.

Let me make a reservation right away: I made a pencil holder for the first time, and the process of creating it and the order will be the same as I went through. :)

Let's start making it. You can download the template and cut a pattern using it.

We make a pattern from thick paper (I took watercolor paper with a density of 200 g/m2), so that it is convenient to work with it, on the side walls of rectangles measuring 10.2 * 6 cm, 9.7 * 5.5 cm.

We cut out rectangles from cardboard for the side walls, make 6 parts for a large rectangle, and 4 parts for a smaller rectangle.

We glue them together in layers, it turns out that the large rectangle consists of 3 layers of cardboard, the smaller one - of two. Secure with clamps.

In the same order we glue the front and back walls of the pencil holder. Large parts consist of three layers of cardboard, smaller ones - two.

After drying, we go over the edges of our blanks with sandpaper.

Now we connect our parts together, we have each wall made of five layers of cardboard. We secure everything with clamps and let it dry.

We cut out connecting jumpers from watercolor paper: 4 pieces measuring 5*10 cm, bend them in half lengthwise.

Glue them to the front and back of the pencil holder on the sides.

Glue the connecting strip to the edge.

We cut out the next two parts measuring 17*5 cm and 5*5 cm and crease them in the middle along the length.

We glue connecting strips along the bottom of our front and back parts.

Glue the side walls and the bottom connecting strip; while gluing, let each part dry.

Glue the top part and leave it to dry.

Glue the connecting strips to the side walls of the bottom.

From my experience with a coffee grinder, I didn’t cut out the bottom in advance, so as not to have to worry about adjusting it later, so I measured the size of the bottom using the finished top part. I got 8.2*20.1 cm - 2 parts, 8.8*20.7 - 3 parts.

We connect the parts of the bottom and clamp them, let them dry.

We glue our parts to the bottom and fix them with clamps, let them dry.

On our connecting strips we cut the corners at 45 degrees to make it stick better. We coat the strips and the bottom cut of the cardboard well with Titan glue.

We leave our pencil case to dry.

Now we need to measure the inside width of the pencil holder to make a partition. I got 5.7*12.8 cm, cut out 3 parts from cardboard.

We glue the parts of the partition together.

We cut out 4 pieces of connecting strips 5*12.5 cm and crease them in the middle.

We glue the connecting strips to our partition.

Mark the middle.

In the upper part you need to cut off the corners of the connecting strips (already modified in the process). Apply glue to the partition and glue it.

This is how it should be.

On the big shot, we cut out a large oval 7*6 cm - 4 pcs., a small oval 6*5 cm - 3 pcs., there were more parts, because As the cardboard passes through the bigshot, it makes it thinner. If you don’t have a big shot, you can cut it out according to the template, No. 1 is a large oval, No. 2 is a smaller oval.

Glue and secure with clamps.

We leave our preparations to dry thoroughly, I did it in the evening, so they dried until the morning.

We go over the edges of the entire pencil holder with sandpaper.

We paint our pencil holder along the edges and bottom with acrylic paint (I selected the color to match the paper with which I will paste it over). We cut out 2 parts of template No. 2 and 2 rectangles measuring 9.7 * 5.5 cm from paper. We sanded along the edges of the parts.

We lightly tint the pencil holder with wax.

We glue our paper parts. We tint the finished pencil holder in places with wax.

We glue the inside of our pencil holder using a pattern and measuring the internal size of the parts.

I replaced the picture on the oval, I didn’t really like the first one.:) I experimented with flowers for the photo shoot, it’s a pity that the peonies haven’t bloomed yet. I think they would be perfect.

My daughter immediately took the pencil holder for her makeup brushes :)

Thank you so much for stopping by my master class! Hope you find it useful! Happy creativity!

Option 8. Another option from a tin can

In the example, a linen cord is used.

  • linen lace (red and white);
  • film or cardboard to cover the table;
  • glue gun;
  • acetone;
  • brush;
  • pliers;
  • lighter;
  • gloves;
  • scissors.

Step 1 . Press down all the nicks on the can using pliers.

The notches on the can are pressed down

Step 2 . After treating the jar with acetone, put on gloves and paint it. Wait for the craft to dry.

You need to wear gloves when painting

Step 3 . Cut a piece of clothesline and singe one end. Secure the cord at the base of the can with a glue gun, then wrap it tightly in a circle.

The end of the rope is glued

The rope is wound in a circle

Step 4 . Having passed 1/3 of the can, cut the cord, singe the end and glue it.

Step 5 . Take the red rope, go another 1/3, then finish the cover using the white rope again.

Step-by-step manufacturing instructions

Pencil holders will help you put your desk in order, thanks to which you can separate pencils, pens and markers.
Creating a pencil stand with your own hands will take no more than half an hour. And the algorithm for making a pencil holder is as follows:

  1. Plastic bottles with a volume of half a liter (containers of lemonade or mineral water are suitable) are rinsed and dried.
  2. The neck and a couple of centimeters of the plastic adjacent to it are cut off from the first bottle, and the bottom from the second.
  3. Using a centimeter, measure the circumference of the resulting holes, and the resulting result is transferred to the zipper, measuring its part from the fastener.
  4. The cut-off part of the zipper is unzipped and the fabric base is smeared with glue on each half of it.
  5. Glue the zipper to the prepared parts of the bottle so that it can be fastened.
  6. Wait for the glue to dry and start using a practical and convenient pencil holder.

This simple option for making a stand for writing instruments is good because it allows you to keep pens, felt-tip pens, pencils, and brushes in order and will prevent them from falling apart, even if the craft falls off the table.

Option 9. Stand made from old jeans

An unexpectedly beautiful desktop device.
To make such a denim pencil holder, you need:

  • old jeans;
  • lace;
  • a shoe box (or rather, just the lid);
  • tin cans (or other containers) of different sizes;
  • glue;
  • paper clips;
  • scotch;
  • pencil;
  • ruler.

Step 1 . Place the denim on the table and the lid on top of it. Mark the boundaries and connect them with lines.

Borders are marked with a pencil

Step 2 . Cut a rectangle along these lines, then, armed with double-sided tape, glue it inside the lid.

The fabric is glued inside the lid

Double sided tape is used

Step 3 . Cover the sides of the lid in the same way (see photo).

The sides are also covered

Step 4 . Place the can on the material, measure, cut off the excess, and then glue the fabric to the can. Don't forget to leave an indent at the top by folding it inward and gluing it. Wrap the remaining cans in denim in the same way.

The jar is placed on the fabric

Gluing fabric

Wrap each of the cans

Step 5 . Almost done. Wrap the pencil jars with braid, and you can also decorate the lid with it. Then assemble the entire composition.

Wrap the jar with tape

In the finished set you can store not only pencils, but also other small items that should always be at hand.

Option 10. DIY apple pencil

Barrel of Honey

A cardboard barrel can transform your home interior and become a good storage place for all sorts of small items. How to make it with your own hands so that it makes you happy every day? To work you will need a standard stationery set. It is necessary to cut out the bottom and glue a paper strip around the entire perimeter.

Note!

  • How to make candles with your own hands: instructions for making wax, gel, scented, homemade decorative candles with a wick
  • What you can make from foamiran with your own hands: we create flowers, Christmas tree decorations, snowflakes, three-dimensional paintings (photo + video)

One side of the strip should have teeth, using them to glue the two parts together.

We cut out strips of thick cardboard in the form of a fence and glue them. This craft can be painted like a barrel of honey. Or decorate with delicate artificial flowers and beads.

Option 11. Pencil for a young princess

Glamorous set for stationery
For this craft you need:

  • jars of cotton swabs (2 pcs.);
  • olive jars (3 pcs.);
  • napkins with a pattern;
  • plain paper.

Step 1 . Take pliers and bend the edges of the tin cans. Then wash all the jars thoroughly and degrease with nail polish remover.

Painting jars with acrylic paint

Step 2 . Paint the jars with white acrylic paint. Paint in two layers: the first with a brush, the second with a sponge (can be replaced with a sponge). You can apply paint on the inside in one layer.

Step 3 . Cut out rectangles from paper according to the internal size of the cans. Use the resulting blanks as a stencil for napkins and cut them out too.

Napkin blanks are glued

Step 4 . Glue the napkin blanks to the paper. After the glue has dried, apply two layers of PVA on top - the napkins are thin and can tear easily. Then, when the glue is completely dry, apply varnish in two layers.

Step 5 . As a result, you should make 5 blanks for the bottom and 5 for the sides. Glue all the parts in the inside of the cans; you can apply another layer of varnish for added security.

Blank for the bottom

Step 6 . The jars will stick to the stand, but they have ridges on the bottom. To solve this problem, cut out circles of the required diameter from cardboard and glue them. Glue felt cut to size on top (it will easily stick to any surface).

Universal PVA glue

Step 7 . Prepare a 25 cm piece of laminate and paint the side surfaces with brown paint. Apply white paint on top. Glue the napkin, then apply glue and varnish on top.

Step 8 . Return to the banks. Decoupage the outer surfaces. Cut the napkins to size, glue them, apply glue and varnish.

Decorate the jars with lace braid and beads

Step 9 . Finally, decorate the pencil holders with beads and lace braid. Glue the jars to the base.

On a note! Before painting the inside of the cans, be sure to sand the surfaces. Otherwise, the paint will not “lay down” and nothing will stick to the cans.

Pencil from a book

You will need: a thick paperback book, pencil, cardboard, scissors, white acrylic paint, glue, clamps.

Master Class

  1. Divide the pages of the book into 5 equal parts and secure with clips.
  2. Glue the pencil to the side of the book.
  3. Wrap the book around the pencil so that it is in the center.
  4. Form petals and secure with glue.
  5. Paint the top of the petals with white acrylic paint, thereby priming the pages so that they do not separate.
  6. Trace the bottom of the pencil holder onto thick cardboard, then cut it out.
  7. Glue the cardboard bottom and wait for it to dry.

You can take some finished work as a basis, and supplement it with your own decorative options, then the attribute will come out more original and interesting in appearance.

FAQ. Questions and answers

Why is a pencil better than a pen? A pencil is much more practical. Firstly, text written with a pen may fade over time, but this will not happen with a pencil. Secondly, if you need to write on a vertical surface, the ink may drain and the pen will begin to write poorly, but the pencil will still write just as well. Thirdly, a broken pencil will produce two smaller pencils, but one pen will not produce two.

What are pencil holders for? A pencil is an indispensable thing on your desk. Agree, some office supplies constantly accumulate that can come in handy at any moment: you need a paperclip, a paper stapler, or an eraser. And about pencils and felt-tip pens it’s a completely different story!

What is foamiran? Foamiran is a soft rubber with pores, which is often used to create dolls, toys and jewelry.

What can replace fleece? To create a pencil holder, it is not necessary to use fleece; all parts can be cut out of felt. Felt is good because it is very pliable, easy to work with, and the variety of colors allows you to embody the most original ideas.

What were the very first pencils? The history of the pencil begins in the 11th century. Artists then drew mainly with sticks made from a mixture of lead and zinc, sometimes called “silver pencils.”

A pencil is a must-have attribute of any desk. Of course, you can buy it at any stationery store, but anything made with your own hands always has more advantages. This way you can make an exclusive pencil holder for every taste!
