September 1 (Knowledge Day) is the beginning of a new stage for every student, it is a meeting with classmates, teachers, and the home walls of their school.
For this significant day, to create a special mood for the approaching days filled with gaining knowledge, we propose to make bright and interesting crafts with your own hands, which will not only develop children’s arts and crafts abilities, but will also become useful in their school life.
DIY pen jewelry
A ballpoint pen can rightfully be considered the most important attribute of any schoolchild. And to make the handle original and beautiful, we suggest you make decorative accessories for them with your own hands.
The first option is juicy apples!
Print the finished apple template onto colored double-sided paper and carefully cut it out. Using a hole punch, make two holes in the paper apple - one at the top and one at the bottom. Now insert a pen or pencil into these holes. Agree, this pen is much more interesting.
The second option is a feather!

A long time ago, there were no ballpoint pens, because people wrote with a feather that had to be dipped into an inkwell. Why not decorate a modern pen with a beautiful feather, because then it will look much more original.
Print out the finished pen template. You can use white paper or colored paper. Then decorate the feather to your liking.
Apply glue to the bottom of the paper pen and glue it to a pen or pencil.
From dried fruits
A bouquet of dried fruits will be a wonderful gift for a male teacher. Compositions can be complemented with flowers of dark shades or painted dried flowers.
The procedure for creating a bouquet for September 1st with your own hands:
- Select dried fruits: figs, dates, prunes, dried apricots and apples;
- Walnuts;
- Wooden skewers;
- Corrugated paper;
- Gloves.
The procedure for creating a delicious gift:
- Wear disposable gloves. This is necessary because your hands will touch food.
- Thread the ingredients individually onto skewers. Cut out rectangles from corrugated paper and decorate the nuts with them. Secure the paper with glue. Also secure the nuts on skewers.
- Make a center of three nuts. Place dried fruits around in rows so that they resemble the petals of a huge flower.
- Secure all skewers at the bottom with threads. Decorate the bouquet with dried flowers. Corrugate crumpled paper around the composition.
Such a bouquet can even last for several months. It will pleasantly remind you of the bright Day of Knowledge, when the rest of the flowers have already faded.
Advice. It is better not to combine dried fruits with fresh flowers, as the flowers will have to be thrown away much earlier.
Garland for September 1st to decorate a room
These funny apples with pictures and letters can decorate a room or window in a children's room.
To make it you will need the following materials: wooden ice cream sticks, double-sided colored paper, tape, glue, rope.
Cut out circles from colored paper and cut them in half - these will be halves of an apple.
Glue the wooden sticks together using tape. Then glue the halves of colored paper circles to them.
Decorate each apple with a letter cut out of colored paper.
Attach the finished elements to the rope. Now you can decorate your room or school classroom.
Group decoration
When the official part of the event ends, the children go to the group, where the continuation of the evening awaits them. The group room must be decorated brightly and catchily so that the environment evokes joy and delight in children from the first minutes.
For very young children there will definitely be actual balloons and figures that can be placed near walls and windows and the entrance.
For middle school students, prepare figures of your favorite cartoon characters. Make mockups from cardboard, use photo posters and banners. This way you can combine a themed party with a school theme.
And for those who are about to go to school, it is better to choose a decoration associated with knowledge: autumn foliage, school paraphernalia, a painted board. This will once again remind you that the kids will soon go to school and gnaw on the granite of science.

School decoration
The main activity, as usual, focuses on the festive decoration for the Day of Knowledge of the school yard, classroom and other premises of the educational institution. Some of the decor is purchased in specialized stores, but most of it is made by teachers together with their students.
- Information stand. This is a good opportunity to showcase the achievements of individual students in sports, academics or social activities. It is usually located in a prominent place in the school corridor so that it can be seen by as many spectators as possible. To decorate it, you can’t do without photographs of the “heroes of the day.” Also, it is better to use large catchy letters that attract the attention of others.
- Wall newspaper. This Soviet-era tradition is still popular. Such a newspaper is created by a team of students using colorful clippings, drawings and articles about school life. Working on it, every student can feel like a real journalist.
- Artistic drawings. Every child is endowed with drawing talent to some extent. Therefore, a drawing on the theme of the first bell is a mandatory attribute of every school “gallery” on this day.
- Poster. What else, besides a bright congratulatory poster, can greet those who returned to school after the holidays? Of course, only he, coming from the brush of the most skillful artist in the school or art teacher.
- Fairy lights. This decorative element is very popular for decorating the corridor and classroom. It is suitable for students of any age and can be quickly made from paper.
- To decorate the windows of the classroom and the work board, children can use special templates to cut out figures of doves, leaves, and school-themed objects.
- The teacher’s workplace should also not be left without attention. For the class teacher, a decorative composition in the form of a miniature basket with a bouquet of personal photographs of the entire class team is suitable.
Apron for pencils
If a child likes to draw, then you can sew him a special apron with pockets where all the pencils will fit. Of course, not every mother is suitable for such a task, but if you have sewing skills, you should do it. You will need fabric in cheerful colors; sew a ribbon along the bottom of the apron and stitch it so that you get small pockets for pencils.
For all occasions
Recently, topiary has become a very popular gift - the so-called tree of happiness.
Initially, topiary was the name given to gardens with decoratively trimmed trees. The most famous was the topiary of Babylon - one of the seven wonders of the world. Today, topiary refers to small trees up to half a meter in height, made from artificial flowers.
A do-it-yourself gift for a teacher, made in the form of a topiary, will be a wonderful surprise for a teacher on any occasion.
