DIY decorative paper knife. Master class with step-by-step photos

Paper dagger: do it yourself

The beginning of the production of edged weapons begins with the preparation of the necessary material, namely two sheets of office paper in A4 format, which will become the basis of the dagger. Also, an imitation blade can be made from colored cardboard, which will turn it into a colorful, safe weapon (Figure 1).

You can make a dagger out of paper according to the following scheme:

  1. We fold the sheet diagonally to end up with a triangle with a right angle.
  2. Fold the resulting triangle in half again.
  3. We unfold the finished figure to its original position and bend each corner so that the edge coincides with the central fold line.
  4. Now fold the workpiece in half along the center fold line.
  5. In order to make the tip of a dagger, you need to tuck the ends into a “pocket” on either side of the folded figure.
  6. We roll the second sheet into a thin tube and push it into the “pocket” on the tip of the dagger (about ¾ of its length)
  7. Smooth out the outer part of the tube by a third of its length, after which you need to bend the side at an angle of 90 degrees. Next, bend the smoothed section of the tube at a right angle three more times, which is necessary to form the round tip of the handle.

Figure 1. Making a blade using the origami technique
The resulting handle, namely a piece of its tube, must be tucked into the very first fold.

What materials will be needed

Before you start practicing origami, you should collect the necessary materials and tools. The most important tool in origami is your hands, but paper and a few simple tools will come in handy to help you create beautiful masterpieces (Figure 2).

Making a dagger from paper using this technique is done without glue, and the finished product looks like a real edged weapon.

When choosing material for origami, you should consider the following recommendations:

  1. The best paper for origami is office paper, which is thick and not too smooth. It is well suited for modular origami and will hold its shape wonderfully.
  2. Colored office sheets are painted on both sides and will not turn white on the folds when folded.
  3. To create simple models, small sheets of paper (square-shaped) intended for notes are suitable.
  4. Note blocks (sticky notes) can also be used to create your origami masterpieces.

Figure 2. Materials required for work
Also, when creating any paper product, you can use the following tools: glue, scissors, paints, cutter, pencil, rulers (triangle, protractor).

Paper butterfly knife

Knowledge of how to make a knife out of paper is not enough in this case, because when designing a butterfly knife, it will take time, patience and some expenses. The craft completely replicates the actions of a real butterfly knife.

What is needed for design:

  • multi-colored material (you can use thick office paper);
  • stationery knife and scissors;
  • glue or tape.

It is also worth knowing that a butterfly knife can be made in several ways.

Manufacturing process in the first way:

We take a landscape sheet as a basis, roll it into a tube and smooth it out well. We cut off the excess ends and get a craft that looks like a blade. We fix the workpiece with tape or glue. Draw dotted lines and cut off the craft. We cut the workpiece along the marked lines and move all the parts apart. Now let's start rolling the tubes. From four white and one red sheets of paper, we roll up tubes, after which you need to put one white one into the red one. Now we cut off two identical parts from the red tube, which will resemble wheels in shape, apply glue to them and connect them by winding the ears of one on the other. We combine three tubes. We cut off the excess part. We mark the holes on the blade, insert one red piece of a red tube there, and glue the other end of the same tube with the ends down

To obtain a stronger structure, you need to stick a white one on the red tube, and it is important to maintain the size. We perform identical actions on the other side of the handle.

As a result, we should have a folding butterfly knife.

Now let's make a butterfly knife using the second method. Before starting production, you need to print out a knife template.

Designing a knife using the second method:

  1. We cut out all parts of the template, apply it to corrugated cardboard, trace the blank with a pencil and cut it out with scissors. It is better to cut the handle from simple but thick cardboard.
  2. Now we take two thin strips that are cut out of cardboard, grease them with glue and apply them to the inside of the handle parts. We glue part of the handle on top.
  3. Next, take a regular toothpick or an awl and pierce the blade with this object at the bottom of the blade. Now insert the toothpick into the blade; it should stick out only one centimeter. If the protrusions are longer, they need to be trimmed. The resulting structure must be secured with hot glue.
  4. We finish the work with the following action. We place the blade in the body and close the product. Then we pierce the parts near the edge and check that they move freely. And if everything works perfectly, fix the toothpicks with glue.

Kunai Dagger

One of the serious paper products can be called a Kunai knife. The paper art of origami is used to construct it. Before you begin the manufacturing process, you need to find two landscape sheets and several sheets of colored paper.

How to make a ninja knife from paper:

  1. We take a landscape sheet as a basis, fold it and get a triangular shape. Fold the resulting triangle in half, and then unfold the workpiece to its original position.
  2. We wrap the corners to the center line and fold the craft in half. Next, we have protruding ends, which we bend into the resulting pockets and thus form the blade of our future craft.
  3. Pressing the edge in the shape of a pyramid with your fingers, we lift the paper a little to achieve volume. We take a second sheet of paper, roll it into a tube with a small diameter and insert the blade five centimeters deep.
  4. Next, use your fingers or a sharp object to level the edge of the tube and repeat folding several more times. A handle with a tip should form. At the end, we fix the craft.

Many people want to make the craft heavier and put a coin or pebble in the middle. This is how a ninja knife is made, there are many more options for making knives. Many are trying to learn how to make karambit from paper, we will also tell you about that, but a little later.

Knife made of multi-colored paper

To begin with, we will tell you how to make a knife from colored paper. To construct this model of a children's toy, you will need an A4 sheet, a stapler (can be replaced with tape), and scissors.

Making a knife:

  1. We take a sheet, carefully wrap any of the corners, but the edges of the sheet should match. Having made such a fold, you should get an open triangle, cut it off, unfold the workpiece and see a square in front of you. We bend the square three times, while ironing the folds well.
  2. Now we take scissors and make all the edges semicircular, like a kitchen knife. To prevent the workpiece from falling apart, it must be secured with tape or a stapler. Now we take a piece, bend it along its length several times, fix it with the same tape and get the handle of our knife.
  3. Next you need to combine 2 blanks into one solid object. After joining, the craft can be painted.

So we told you how to make a simple knife out of paper. Now you can start making a more complex model.

In a separate article, we have collected several interesting options for paper origami crafts for beginners

Manufacturing technology

Using origami techniques, you can create many interesting things or objects that will be identical in identity to their originals. Folding a paper knife without glue using the origami technique is not difficult (Figure 3).

A dagger made of such material is not a bladed weapon and will not cause harm to human health, but can only serve as an element of costume decoration or as part of children's games.

You can make a dagger with your own hands using this origami technology:

  1. Fold the sheet in half diagonally (you should get a triangle with a right angle). For this purpose, it is better to use thick office paper.
  2. Fold the resulting triangle in half again.
  3. We expand the resulting model to its initial state and bend the corners of the sheet to the central vertical line.
  4. Fold the workpiece in half and take into account the center line.
  5. We stuff the protruding ends of the workpiece (on either side) into the pocket and begin to form the tip of the blade. We press our fingers on one side of the figure (located from the pyramid) and hold it, after which it will be seen that the blade of the dagger has become voluminous.
  6. We take another sheet, roll it into a tube, and insert it into the pocket to a depth of about 6 cm.
  7. Using your fingers or any flat object, level the edges of the tube (about 5 cm) and turn the workpiece to the side 90 degrees.
  8. We repeat the action of wrapping three times until a round shape of the handle is formed.
  9. The ends of the product must be tucked into the first fold and a little drop of glue to fix the dagger, or use tape to secure it.

Figure 3. Variety of paper imitations of edged weapons

If you want to make a paper bladed weapon heavier, you can put pebbles or coins in the blade.

Making a butterfly knife out of cardboard

When starting to create this type of knives, you should know that this is not an easy task, and it is also time-consuming. But the result will surprise everyone, including children. The paper version will be exactly the same as the real one.

To work you will need the following materials and tools:

  • White paper;
  • colored paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • stationery knife.

Take a sheet of white paper, A4 size, and roll it into a tube, smooth it out. Trim the ends to create a blade. To prevent the structure from unfolding, attach it layer by layer with tape. Draw dotted lines. You need to cut the future craft using them.

Looking at the photo above, mark the workpiece.

Next, in accordance with the outlined lines, you need to cut the paper and move everything apart.

The next step is to roll out white sheets (4 pcs) of A4 and red (1 pc) tubes. Place the white tube into the red one.

The red tube should be used like this: 2 identical parts resembling wheels are cut off from it. You need to apply glue to them and connect them by winding them inside one and the other ear.

Next, white tubes (3 pieces) are tied together with tape. Orient their length according to the length of the blade; cut off the excess and put them in the case.

Mark a hole near the base of the blade. You need to insert one red tube there. And the ends of the second red tube are glued with the tips inward.

To make the handle stronger, glue a white one to the red tube, maintaining the length. Repeat the above on the other side of the handle.

You should end up with a paper version of the butterfly knife.

There is another option for creating a butterfly knife, which uses cardboard or foam board.

The first step is to download the template and then print it.

Let's get to work.

  1. Cut out all template elements. Place them on the corrugated cardboard and cut them out with scissors. Trace the handle onto plain high-density cardboard.
  2. Take 2 strips of corrugated cardboard (choose those that are the narrowest), coat them with glue and lean them against the inner surface of the handle parts (see photo below). There is no need to miss this element; it determines whether the blade will glide easily.
  3. Long rectangles of foam board are glued on top, and the final element is the second part of the handle.
  4. Take a regular toothpick and poke it through the blade (bottom). It should peek out from behind the blade by about 1 cm. The excess needs to be cut off. Take hot glue and fasten the resulting mechanism.
  5. At the last stage, insert the blade into the body and close it. Next, you need to pierce all the elements with two toothpicks at the very edge.
  6. Check that the blades move freely in and out of the handle. If all is well, the toothpicks should be fixed with hot glue.

The work on the knife is finished.

How to make a butterfly knife out of paper

It’s not easy to make a folding balisong out of paper, but the time spent will be more than repaid by the admiring exclamations of your children - because the toy knife will spin like a real one. For crafts, take: colored and plain paper, glue, scissors, a stationery knife.

Roll a sheet of white paper into a tube, flatten it and use scissors to shape it into a blade. Secure all layers with tape. Draw dotted lines and cut the workpiece along them.

Make markings as in the photo.

Cut according to the outline and open the parts to the sides.

Roll 4 white thick tubes from a standard A4 sheet and one red one, wrapping the white straw in red paper.

Cut two wheel-like pieces from the red blank, equal in width to the wing-ears on the blade. Lubricate the wheels with glue and wrap them inside both ears.

Tie three white tubes with tape, cut them according to the length of the blade and place them in the blade case.

Insert one red straw into the hole at the base of the blade, and glue the second with the ends inward.

Strengthen the handle with a white tube of the required length. Repeat the same steps with the second handle and the dummy knife is ready.

So, you have mastered the theory. Now try to make a knife, starting from a simple model and moving on to a more complex one. For a better understanding of the process of making weapons from paper, watch the video on the topic.

Today it is very fashionable to manufacture products based on paper. Toys of this type can completely replace real ones. Take, for example, pistols or knives

Unlike plastic options, paper ones are safe, which is primarily important for children. One of the main attributes of toys for boys is a knife.

We recommend that you read the instructions below and learn how to make a knife out of paper.

Paper shooting gun

To create a shooting gun out of paper, you will have to put in a little more time and effort. In this case, you will need paper, as well as nail scissors. As for the paper itself, it is best to take cardboard for this purpose. It is much stronger and does not deform so quickly. But, in fact, any other paper will work for origami. At the very beginning, the A4 sheet needs to be folded along its entire length several times. Thus, the barrel of the future weapon product is made.

pistol grip

Then the pistol grip is made in the same way. It should be a little wider. Both parts need to be smoothed out, and the smaller element should be placed on top of the larger one. The bottom of the workpiece is visually divided in half. Then, in turn, its right and left sides are bent towards the center of the product. When this is done, the part will need to be folded to the center one more time. Using scissors, make a small hole at the base of the pieces. The new sheet of paper is turned towards itself with the shorter side, and then bent to its middle. What you've got is a trigger. The same part of the sheet that was not used is simply cut off. The element itself needs to be folded in half, pushing it into the gap available at the handle. The halves of the thinner piece should be inserted into the pockets formed by the wider piece. The edges are carefully folded so that the corners are even. If necessary, then all excess is cut off on the trigger. After this, another sheet of paper is taken with the expectation that its width is the width of the future handle. The last part of the weapon model should bend inward. It can be glued with tape to get a smoother and more beautiful pistol grip.

Shutdown

At the very end, a piece of paper is taken, with which the same actions are performed that were done with the trigger. First, the first edge of the paper piece is folded to the left so that the corner remains outside. Then they cut it off. After this, the blank is threaded into the back of the paper barrel - your gun is ready. Well, to make it possible to shoot a weapon, you should put a rubber band on its barrel for money, and also make bullets out of paper.

Conclusion:

A wide variety of weapons can be made from paper. The main thing is that all this is exciting and will definitely be interesting to the boy. A little patience, perseverance and a supply of paper is all you need for this type of creativity. Paper crafts are ideal for spending time together with your child. He develops fine motor skills and imagination. Below we will tell you how to do some of them.

Paper cutting. Community 365 review.

Today I will talk about such a difficult at first glance type of creativity as paper cutting. This art supposedly originated in China and in the local language it sounds like “jianzhi”

. In China it has several directions: “chuan-hua”

or “window flowers” (emerged from the tradition of decorating the windows of houses for the spring festival) and
“si-hua”
(holiday decorations, ritual objects and wishes for all occasions). Subsequently, the art of carving spread throughout the world, acquiring its own characteristics in each country.

Traditional Chinese work was done exclusively with scissors

, but now there is an easier way - cutting with a breadboard knife.

This is what we will talk about. If you wish, you can also work with a regular stationery knife with a retractable blade, but this option is not very convenient when working with small parts.

I'll start with the materials you'll need for the job:

1. Paper

. In fact, it can be absolutely anyone who is more comfortable in their work. I prefer smooth thick paper, about 200 g/m. My Birdie book is cut out of smooth white paper 220 or 240 g/m. For those in Moscow or St. Petersburg, I can recommend the store “World of Paper”, also known as “Double V”. On their website they also write that there are branches in Samara, Tver, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Kyiv and Almaty. But I wasn’t there, I don’t know what or how. So: in this store you can choose paper for almost any application. In the hall there are racks with samples, which indicate the name, density, color, embossing and sheet size. Prices are indicated in catalogs on the tables. Before the holidays, prices there were much lower than in art stores; now, most likely, they have also risen, but in any case, it turns out to be somewhat more profitable and they usually have more choice. Well, if you just want to try the technique without spending extra money, you can always learn how to cut on regular Whatman paper.

2. Knives.

They come in several types. The most common breadboard knives

They are a handle with a collet clamp that secures a replaceable blade. There are now a lot of companies producing such knives. I use a set of knives from an unknown manufacturer:

The small box contains three handles with blades, a number of additional blades on a magnetic strip and tweezers. Previously, I worked only with the thinnest knife, but after working with it for a long time, my fingers begin to hurt. Now I mostly work with a medium knife. It has a heavier handle, it fits more comfortably in the hand and does not cause any unpleasant sensations during operation. I almost never use the largest knife; its handle is not very comfortable for me, but it all depends on personal preference.

In terms of prices: one simple knife is quite suitable for testing, now there is a huge selection, prices start from about 100 rubles. (information about Moscow, prices of art stores).

The second type of knives is a prototype one with a hinged blade.

. In the photo he is black. This is an art knife from Mr. Painter." Overall, it’s a pretty convenient thing, but you need to get used to it to work with it. If before this you cut with a regular breadboard knife, you will have to adapt to the rotating head of this knife

But if you learn to work with it correctly, it can greatly facilitate the process - you will not need to constantly turn the blade; the hinge allows you to do this by changing the tilt of the handle. It is also worth noting that the blades of a hinged knife differ from conventional collet blades.

They are narrower and smaller in size. I have not yet purchased additional blades; the set with this knife includes 10 additional blades. This is quite enough for the first time.

Stationery knife

Unusually, but very interestingly, you can make a stationery knife out of paper with your own hands.

  1. Fold a vertical piece of white paper in half and cut it. Fold a strip 2 cm wide and bend the sheet, do this until the end of the sheet. Secure with tape. Draw the tip of the knife with a marker and cut it out. Glue all the layers of the tip of the knife blade together.
  2. Take colored paper, fold it in half and cut it. Make a bundle with colored paper, as you did with white paper (you will need 2 of these striped bundles). Take the second half of white paper and make a roll of strips 1 cm wide (you will also need 2 of them). On the colored bundle, make a cutout for the knife slider. Make the corners of the knife body more rounded.
  3. We glue together according to the principle of a box: thin strips - the sides of the knife, colored strips - the front and back sides. Insert the blade package inside.
  4. Make a slider from cardboard folded in several layers and glue it to the blade inserted into the body. The knife is ready.

As you can see, all ingenious is simple. A knife made by yourself will give a child bright impressions, and if you make this origami together, then the child will be captivated by this wonderful activity.

Pirate knife

A pirate knife for a children's game or theatrical performance is best made from cardboard.

On a cardboard sheet of the required size, draw with a pencil the shape of a pirate's bladed weapon and cut it out. Then attach the cut out sample, trace it on the cardboard and cut it out again. Make sure all edges match.

After the 2 parts are ready, you need to glue them and paint them. Or you can wrap the blade with shiny foil and cover the handle with colored paper.

Swiss knife model

You can also make a Swiss knife out of paper. It received this name because it was used as a weapon in the Swiss army. It was red. The finished craft can be used in gameplay or presented as an interesting gift to fans

The design of a knife is carried out using the following tools and materials:

  • cardboard, preferably white;
  • a simple pencil;
  • bolt with nut or rivet;
  • glue and needle.

Before explaining how to make karambit from paper, you need to find paper for schematic drawing, a glue stick, and scissors. Boys who play computer games will be interested in making a model themselves. The manufacturing process is very simple:

  • download and print the knife drawing;
  • Using scissors, we cut out all the parts, apply the blanks to drawing paper and trace them with a pencil, while the base needs to be traced eleven times, and the handle twelve times;
  • cut out the outlined elements, glue all the parts and place them under a press (or under heavy books);
  • now we take one part of the handle and glue it to the blade;
  • Having coated the second part with glue, close the other side of the blade.

At the end, we paint the craft and cover it with colorless varnish.

Karambit paper knife: photos of the best

Of course, store-bought karambit knives look like very beautiful toys for grown men. But a homemade karambit knife made from paper can be no less beautiful.

Homemade karambit from KS GO

Knives with the Tiger Tooth , as they are called in the game, look very impressive.

Only by looking closely at this photo can you understand that the Bloody Web on the karambit was drawn, and the knife was made by hand.

Coloring karambit: gradient pattern

Karambit with a gradient pattern looks very bright and unusual. Any person who is familiar with KS GO, seeing such a knife on you, will immediately remember the game.

The next photo is not a real karambit, just a pencil drawing, but the choice of shades and execution are wonderful. We think that if you paint a homemade paper karambit in the same way, it will turn out great.

How to make a ninja dagger?

Many boys are passionate about ninjas and their fighting techniques. Every self-respecting ninja has a knife called a kunai. How to make a ninja knife out of paper?

  1. Take a square piece of paper and fold it diagonally.
  2. Fold the resulting triangle again.
  3. Now return the figure to its original position and bend the corners so that their edges coincide with the center.
  4. Fold the shape in half in the center.
  5. Make the point of the weapon - tuck the remaining ends into the “pockets” on one side.
  6. Roll the next sheet into a thin tube and push it three-quarters of the way into the “pocket.”
  7. Flatten the free end of the tube and bend it at an angle of 90°.
  8. Bend the end of the tube three more times at right angles to form a handle.
  9. Place the end of the tube into the “pocket”. The ninja knife is ready!

Folding Swiss knife made of cardboard

The knife got its name because it was in the Swedish army that they carried such a red bladed weapon. Now we will make a knife - a postcard, which can be used both in the game and as a souvenir.

Let's get started:

  1. To get started, save and print the template.
  2. Prepare a sheet of white cardboard, attach the parts and trace them, then cut them out.
  3. Take a large needle and pierce 3 components at the same time: body, blade, saw.
  4. Pull out the needle, insert a screw into the hole, and tighten it with a nut on the back side. Or you can replace them with a special rivet.
  5. Take the glue and drip a little where there are red dots. The side from which the blades come out should remain without glue.
  6. One of the parts of the body must be superimposed on the other so that their outlines do not extend beyond the contours of each other.
  7. Like a real knife, the blades may have engravings. Do it at your own discretion.

The work on the Swiss Army Knife is complete.

How to design a stencil for a karambit knife with your own hands

Finding a ready-made drawing of a beautiful knife is not so easy. Especially if you are a fan of the game and want to become the owner of an exact copy of a fantastic weapon.

In addition, many ready-made sketches can be incomprehensible for beginners; some small details and ambiguities often lead to confusion.

There are several ways to obtain a karambit stencil:

  • Explore the Internet. The web is filled with various stencils. Of course, you won't like most of them or won't understand them. But if you don't give up, you will find exactly what you need;
  • Use a graphics editor. Modern programs make it easy to remove excess color from an image. By decolorizing the image of the knife you like, you will get an excellent finished model;
  • Draw a sketch yourself. Although it is quite complex, it is always possible to add or remove some details;

Lesson #2: Cardboard Swiss Army Knife

A folding knife with a red body has become a classic symbol of the Swiss army, and a folding knife-postcard will be an excellent souvenir for any connoisseur of edged weapons.

1. Download the template here and print it.

2. Transfer all the details onto white cardboard and cut them out.

3. Place the file and blade on the back of the body and use a thick needle to pierce all three pieces together. Insert a rivet into the hole (you can buy these at office supply or craft stores).

4. Apply a little thick glue to the areas indicated by the red dots. Make sure that the glue does not get on the side of the knife from which its blades will extend.

5. Place the front half of the body on the back half so that their contours completely coincide.

6. Apply "engraving" to the blades

All! Your personalized Swiss knife is ready!

Master class No. 4 Knife with a retractable blade

For this project you will need thick and rigid cardboard or foam board. When you press the trigger, the blade pops out of the handle.

1. Download the template and cut it out.

2. Transfer all the fragments to cardboard or foam board and cut out the necessary parts.

3. Glue two larger squares on top of each other (all edges must match exactly) - this is the future stopper for the blade. Then, in the same way, connect two smaller squares - the future “trigger”.

4. Now glue the stopper to the side of the future handle, right above the hole (it should remain completely open).

5. Connect the handle fragments as shown in the photo, and then glue the body cover and hilt on top.

Please note that the holes on opposite sides of the case match exactly, and the stopper is visible inside. When you put the rubber band through the holes that will fire the blade, this little part will prevent it from falling out of the handle before you pull the trigger.

6. Thread a piece of rubber band through the holes and, pulling slightly, secure it with hot glue on both sides of the handle.

7. Insert the blade into the handle, simultaneously pulling the elastic band with its base. The notch should be on the side of the stopper and coincide with it.

8. Insert the “trigger” into the hole under the stopper. It should slide easily in its nest without falling out.

Pulling the “trigger” will cause the blade to move to the side and jump off the stopper, and the tension of the elastic will push it out.

9. Paint the body of the knife and, if desired, the blade.

How to make a butterfly knife?

A knife with a flip-out blade can be made by first cutting out its parts from paper. These will be 4 long narrow rectangles, 4 narrow strips and 2 short strips along the length and width of the rectangles. Cut out a blade from white cardboard. Now start the main work.

  1. Take two rectangles and cover them with strips of cardboard, leaving the inner sides free (this is the future pocket for the blade).
  2. Glue the lid on top - the two remaining cardboard rectangles.
  3. Start working on the blade - pierce it with a toothpick, the edges of which should not be more than 2 cm on both sides.
  4. Now insert the blade into the body of the knife, close the knife and pierce with toothpicks on both sides.
  5. To ensure the durability of the knife, secure the toothpicks with any glue.

Making a butterfly knife out of cardboard

When starting to create this type of knives, you should know that this is not an easy task, and it is also time-consuming. But the result will surprise everyone, including children. The paper version will be exactly the same as the real one.

To work you will need the following materials and tools:

  • White paper;
  • colored paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue;

The work on the knife is finished.

Material for production

The best choice among all alloys and metals is steel.
You should pay attention to the markings; different variations have differences.

But any brand must meet the following characteristics:

Resistance to various types of corrosion (especially important when working under the influence of water); High hardness; Wear resistance; Impact strength (prevents the material from crumbling).

Alloy steel is cheaper and more practical, and it will be much easier to forge. At this time, the following brands are available in Russia:

  • X12MF is die steel, sharpens well, has good impact strength. The only negative is that it is very afraid of corrosion. Therefore, you will have to take more care of your knife.
  • 95Х18. A very popular alloy due to its strength (despite the hardness of 64 HRC).
  • HVG – excellent viscosity and hardness, the edge will not crumble under strong impact. Refers to tool steel.
  • 40X13 – stainless spring steel, long-term use leads to reduction and cracking of the blade edge. You can also make a handle for a knife yourself using the following components:
  • Tree. The unique unique pattern of annual rings will add beauty and brutality to your blade.
  • Rubberized plastic. In another way it is called soft-touch or soft plastic. Does not slip in the hand, pleasant to the touch.
  • Steel. Typically 3 mm thick sheet steel is used. Pros: durability and ease of creation.

Useful tips

You can also make an original karambit knife from paper (Figure 5). Its design is even simpler than making a dagger using the origami technique.

Figure 5. Drawing and photo of paper karambit

To do this, you need to take the finished drawing, cut out two of its parts and trace them on thick paper. In total, you need to make 11 blanks for the knife itself, and 12 blanks for the handle. We cut out all the circled blanks and glue them together. After this, we place the blanks under the press, and glue two blanks of handles to it. When the structure has hardened, it can be painted and varnished. You will find more detailed instructions for making an original paper dagger in the video.

How to make an assassin's knife out of paper?

Many boys are fond of computer games and dream of having an assassin's blade at their disposal. You can make it from paper very quickly, take only 8 sheets of paper and tape.

  1. Place 4 sheets of paper on top of each other and fold them in half twice.
  2. On one side, cut a strip approximately 1 cm wide.
  3. Make a sharp blade by cutting off the corners on both sides.
  4. Cover the blade with tape to prevent it from falling apart.
  5. Now take 4 sheets of paper to make the case. Also, place them on top of each other and bend them twice.
  6. Cut out the central part of two sheets, secure the rectangular remains of the paper with tape.
  7. Make a stopper out of paper; it will prevent the knife from falling out of the case. Insert the knife into the case.
  8. Now place a sheet of paper on the case; it should move away from the limiter just a little.
  9. Wrap the sheet around the case, leaving a small gap. Secure the ends of the sheet with tape. Now you know how to make an assassin's knife out of paper that jumps out of the case with a sharp wave of the owner's hand!

Every parent will have peace of mind knowing that their child's toys are safe.

Knife like an Assassin

This model of knife can be made without a template. You will need eight album sheets and tape.

The knife is made in this way:

  1. We take four sheets, place them on top of each other and bend them in half twice. On one side we cut a strip one centimeter wide. By cutting off the corners we form a knife blade. After this, we cover the workpiece with tape so that it does not fall apart into several parts.
  2. Now take four more sheets of paper. We also fold them into one thick sheet and bend them twice. We cut out the central part of the bent workpiece, and secure the rectangular remains with tape. We prepare a limiter protrusion from paper.
  3. We take the sheet and wrap it around the body, leaving a small gap. Secure the edges with tape.

The knife is ready. Your child will probably ask you how to make such a paper knife 232 times, and maybe more, because the toy turns out to be excellent. In addition to it, you can make shuriken from paper so that the warrior is ready for battle. We described earlier how to make shuriken.

When playing with such a knife, the child will be safe and will not be injured during the game, and this is a guarantee of peace of mind for parents. It is better to make any paper crafts together with your children; they will really like this activity.

Features of a paper dagger

The main feature of such a homemade dagger is that it is not capable of harming a person or causing serious injury. No matter what density of sheets you use, you will not be able to create a truly sharp knife that will perform its direct functions.

Accordingly, we can conclude that such a craft is useful only if you need to decorate a fancy dress costume with an imitation of edged weapons (Figure 4).

Figure 4. Design features of a paper blade

The design features of the product largely depend on your imagination: guided by universal patterns, you can create a unique ninja knife, a folding tourist knife, or even a pirate dagger, and then decorate the blade with stickers or drawings for plausibility. By the way, if you don’t have thick office sheets that are ideal for the origami technique, you can easily make a blade using the papier-mâché technique. In this case, the material is torn into pieces, filled with water, then PVA glue is added and a blade of any shape is formed from the resulting slurry. In the future, the workpiece can be painted and even varnished to give it additional credibility.

Types of products

The first stage of purchasing or making a knife is choosing its model, depending on the purpose of using the blade (Figure 2).

All bladed weapons are divided into types depending on the scope of application:

  1. Hunting:
    such knives are most often made to order, because such a blade must successfully combine very serious characteristics. Since such blades are most often used for cutting game, the blade must be durable, extremely sharp and not dull for a long time. In addition, such products must be wear-resistant, because during the hunt you will not have the opportunity to replace the blade.
  2. Tourist:
    perhaps the most versatile option, since with the help of such a knife you can cut branches, plan wood chips and perform a number of other tasks. If you want to make such a folding camping knife with your own hands, keep in mind that its blade must be strong enough and wide, because such camping knives are often used as a replacement for an ax.
  3. Survival knives:
    a subspecies of tourist blades, which are separated into a separate group because of their versatility. As a rule, such models are equipped with additional devices that may be needed on a hike. But in practice, it is better to have all these devices separately, since when they are included in the knife itself, the width and performance characteristics of its blade deteriorate.
  4. Kitchen knives:
    such knives are also often made by hand, for example, from metal saws, since high-quality finished industrial products are usually very expensive.

In fact, you can make a knife with your own hands from almost any material - a bearing or a file, the main thing is to adhere to the correct heat treatment regime so that the finished blade is moderately hard, sharp and wear-resistant. Since many are interested in how to make a high-quality hunting knife with their own hands, we will look at all the nuances of this process in more detail.

Knife weapon

It is very easy to make an ordinary bayonet knife from paper. For this we will need A4 paper, scissors, PVA glue, tape, and pen paste. You will now learn how to make a paper knife with your own hands.

  1. Take a sheet of A4 paper, place it vertically towards you and measure 3 cm down in the upper left corner, draw a line horizontally along the sheet. Fold the sheet along this line and repeat folding until your sheet is finished. Cut off the free end with scissors. Glue the last fold of the sheet with PVA glue.
  2. Take another A4 sheet and cut a square out of it. Using the rod from the handle, we twist the vertically located sheet, starting from the upper left corner. We fix the end with tape and get a tube. We pull out the rod. You will need 2 of these tubes.
  3. Draw a bevel at the end of the future knife, cut out and glue all layers of paper on the blade.
  4. We insert the tubes into the blade and glue them at the base of the knife.
  5. From the edge of the knife, mark the place where the handle will begin and make 5 mm cuts on both sides. Bend the handle along the cuts inward and wrap it with tape.
  6. Using a utility knife, cut off the excess edges of the sticks without pressing on them.
  7. Decorate the handle or simply wrap it in colored paper.
  8. Make small cuts on the top of the blade - grooves.
