Replace skewers
The chopsticks remaining after the delivery of Chinese cuisine will replace store-bought skewers after a little modification - one end is sharpened with a knife.
Shish kebab is a traditional dish for picnics, but sometimes you want to try a flavorful dish at home. The procedure for preparing meat is no different from the street version, except for smaller pieces. Place the skewers with meat either in glass containers, or wrap them in foil or place them on a baking sheet. They also prepare other food for kuaizi: lula kebab, vegetables, seafood.
Dandelion made from cotton swabs
This craft is more difficult. But children of primary school age may not be able to cope. You need to take a sushi stick and attach a large ball of white plasticine to it so that you get a ball on a leg.
Then the halves of cotton swabs are carefully attached to this ball on all sides. The fleece is directed outward. It turns out a fluffy dandelion.
Will become a rug
Cooks use a mat to prepare rolls. Made with your own hands, it will become an original gift.
To work you will need bamboo sticks and a ball of nylon or cotton thread. If only a rope is available, it is dissolved into individual components. Chinese cutlery is placed on the table in one layer close to each other, and the thread is folded in half. The first stick is inserted into the loop and the ends are overlapped. Next, insert the second one and so on, each time crossing and pulling the thread tightly so that the kuaizi are fixed to each other. Having reached the last one, the bamboo sticks are leveled, the thread is moved to the edge parallel to the ends of the poles. The rope is then tied in a knot and cut. Such connecting paths are made throughout the rug at intervals of 2-3 cm from each other. The last thread is placed at the same distance from the second edge as the first. To prevent the rope from flying off the smooth kuaizi, circular notches are cut on the sides.
Airplane for kids
The airplane will help keep children busy in the summer or on weekends with creativity, distracting them from playing games on the Internet and TV.
For the product you will need 2 large ice cream sticks and 1 small one. 1 more wooden clothespin. It is better to use wood glue to attach popsicle sticks.
First, choose a color and paint the sticks and clothespin. For example, the sticks are yellow (red), and the clothespin is green (white). You can decorate the sticks with stripes, triangles, etc.
Then, on one side (closer to the spring), colored sticks are glued on both sides - these are the wings of the airplane. On the other side, on its upper part we glue a small stick-tail.
The airplane is ready!
Reliable hot stand
For a flexible stand, take two ribbons of heat-resistant material in the colors you like. If the goal is to get a square, then the length of the ribbons is equal to the size of the sticks. Place the tapes parallel to each other and place Chinese cutlery on them. The sticks are placed at the same interval, measuring the distance between them with a ruler. Attach the kuaizi to the tape using super glue. Let it dry and if there is excess, cut it off.
Organizers, boxes, pencil cups
It's very easy to make all sorts of storage devices out of sticks. To do this, just glue them together, crossing them one by one and achieving the desired shape.
It’s even easier to paste over a ready-made glass or jar with chopsticks.
To make a box, you need to paste over a cardboard box or a wooden box-blank for decoration (for example, for decoupage) with sticks.
The sticks can be decorated - then the craft will become bright and expressive.
Original hair decoration
The pencil will help out a schoolgirl or girl in the office when her loose hair makes it difficult to concentrate. It looks more aesthetically pleasing if your hair is decorated not with stationery, but with a stylish accessory. Kuaizi can be quickly turned into a hair clip.
A retainer with a ring is inserted into the base of the stick, onto which beads, beads, Swarovski crystals and other decor are strung. The bamboo base is varnished.
From simple to complex
Start with simple houses, and when you master them, move on to more complex designs. Feel like an architect, create new buildings, use your imagination, and perhaps soon a whole mini-town with stick houses will appear in your home.
Mirror frame
Using kuaizi, glued together into flat blocks, rectangular mirrors are framed. The sticks are placed around the perimeter, fastened in the corners with twine overlaps.
Round mirrors are surrounded by rays. They are made of the same or different lengths, combining into a single composition. To create a symmetrical pattern, first place long sticks, and then glue smaller ones in descending order. If the length of the kuaizi is not enough, fasten 2 with glue.
Popsicle stick bracelet
Older children sometimes wonder how to make a craft from sticks that will be a pleasant surprise and a favorite gift for a friend or girlfriend.
A bracelet is a gift that a person will wear with pleasure, remembering his friend or relative with special warmth.
Tools and materials:
- Ice cream sticks – 10 pcs;
- Wood varnish;
- Picture or paint;
- Stationery knife;
- Satin ribbon or strong thread.
Manufacturing process:
- Soak the sticks for a day. They should become elastic and bend easily.
- Select a container to dry. This could be a wide glass or bottle.
- Place them in a bent state and leave them in the container until completely dry.
- Use a utility knife to make holes on both sides.
- Draw a pattern on the bracelet or glue pictures.
- Cover the bracelet with protective varnish.
- Knit 2 ribbons.
You can tie the bracelet with floss, twine or beautiful threads around the perimeter.
Stylish lampshade for a lamp
By gluing sticks together at different angles, hollow geometric structures are obtained. Under straight - rectangular or square. To do this, fold the kuaizi like a log house, passing glue at the points of contact. By weaving at angles that imitate basket weave, a spherical beehive lampshade is obtained.
Stylish designs are also made from whole disposable sticks. Due to the different thicknesses at the bases of such devices, by fastening them together, lampshades are obtained in the shape of a truncated cone. To do this, stepping back 1-2 cm from the edge on each side, cut grooves through which they wrap the kuaizi with a rope and tighten it for secure fixation. The ends of the rope are secured with knots and the fabric is rolled into a three-dimensional figure. The lampshade is secured to the frame of the old lamp with glue or twine.
Willow made from cotton swabs
Cotton swabs are great for creating voluminous applications. Draw a vase with your child on a piece of cardboard. Draw brown branches above the vase.
Trim the cotton swabs so that only small pieces with cotton remain. Children can glue these “fluffy things” to the sides of the branches. The result will be a willow.
Dessert stick
It's easy to please your kids with candies, ice cream and sweet desserts. Since they want to give their children the best, many mothers prepare sweets themselves, not trusting the manufacturers. And disposable Chinese chopsticks do a good job as rods for treats, allowing you to enjoy desserts without getting your hands dirty. Using them is very simple - cut them to the appropriate size and fill them with the confectionery mixture.
Home decor: photo frame, lamp and more
You can make many stylish decorative items using sushi sticks. For example, the fashionable mirror “Sun”:
- Option #1. Video with master class:
- Option #2. Photo master class:
A wooden lampshade will add zest to your living room or bedroom interior. It gives interesting shadows, makes the atmosphere cozy and conducive to heart-to-heart conversations. The lampshade is made by gluing Chinese sticks together.
You can make a photo frame like a mirror. Or make a photo frame from scratch:
Sushi sticks can be used to weave baskets and boxes in which you can store jewelry and various small items. Such containers can be used as beautiful gift wrapping.
Alternative to matches
Lighting a gas oven requires skill. And if you run out of matches, the procedure turns into a quest. A lighter and electric ignition will not fit into the narrow hole; burning paper rolled into a tube will cause burns to your fingers. A sushi stick will come to the rescue: it is set on fire from the burner.
Making useful items from Chinese cutlery is fun and easy. The process can be turned into an exciting game and children will happily participate in it.

Stands for knives
The simplest craft you can imagine. The idea behind a homemade knife rack is to put all your sushi chopsticks in a stable container. You need to stuff it as tightly as possible. Additionally, a stack of pieces of wood can be tied with rubber bands for money.
What it looks like in reality:
The knives are inserted into a tight stack, do not scratch anything or fall off. In addition, the stand can always be disassembled and cleaned (replace parts).
Bird feeders
You can also use sticks to make such a useful device as a bird feeder. With winter approaching, this is especially important. The feeder can be made using the same principle as storage boxes. All that remains is to hang it on a rope on a tree, after filling it with food.

House
Quite a complex craft that a child can handle with the help of an adult. The following materials will be needed:
- Scissors;
- Glue;
- Sticks in large quantities.
Progress:
- You need to place about 12 sticks on the table in an even row. After everything is aligned, you need to glue them at the end;
- For strength, 2 more sticks are also glued perpendicularly to the back;
- You need to make 7 pieces of these bases. For two, stick not 2, but 3 sticks for reliability;
- One blank must be placed on the table and 4 guides must be mounted to fasten the walls;
- The remaining three blanks will be the roof. Those blanks with three sticks glued to the back will be the slopes, the third will be the base.
- All that remains to be added to the house is the details: a door, a staircase, perhaps even furniture. You can paint the house and add decorations. Some people even come up with the idea of making furniture out of cotton swabs.
A small doll will fit in such a house. You can adjust the size by using more or fewer sticks.
Preparatory work
Sometimes the base needs to be prepared in advance. The parts are soaked in cold water for more than 12 hours. Another option is possible: boiling for half an hour. After the material is saturated with moisture, it is dried - this will take more than three hours.
How to learn to properly hold and eat with Chinese chopsticks: tips, recommendations
Rules and advice from experienced bathhouse attendants on how to properly take a steam bath
In order to learn how to eat with Chinese chopsticks correctly, you should adhere to the following scheme:
- One of the sticks is located between the thumb and index finger - placed at the place where they intersect. Moreover, the wide end should be laid in this way.
- The continuation of this stick runs along the pad of the thumb and reaches the middle finger. The cutlery should be fixed on the middle one. However, some people find it more comfortable to place it on the ring finger.
This is how the first Chinese chopstick is fixed
- Now it’s the turn of the second stick. It is located between the index finger and thumb. But higher than the first one. That is, you need to take it with the usual movement of grabbing a pen or pencil.
- Now you need to try to connect and separate the thin ends of the sticks. That is, create a movement as if a bird is clicking its beak. This will check whether you managed to take the cutlery correctly and whether its components will intersect somewhere in the middle.
As a result, Chinese chopsticks are held like this
- You can try moving your hand a little relative to the sticks. The main thing is to maintain their basic position scheme. The fact is that some users of this device find it more convenient to grip it closer to the base, while others find it more convenient to grip it closer to the middle.
- Once a comfortable position is chosen, you can begin training. Beginners should hold the chopsticks at an angle of 45 degrees. After getting used to it, the angle can be increased.
- In order to grab a piece of food, you just need to straighten your index and middle fingers - this will open the sticks. Then the food is grabbed so that there is some distance from it to the ends and it does not slip off. Then the indicated fingers are bent again - this way the ends of the sticks will close.
When the index and middle fingers bend, the chopsticks close together and are ready to fix a piece of food
Toys
Of course, you can make all sorts of toys out of popsicle sticks.
For example, airplanes. To make these, you will also need wooden clothespins.
Such funny characters can be made very quickly by gluing sticks together (gluing them onto cardboard or gluing two horizontal sticks on the back side at the top and bottom), decorating and decorating the resulting “body” as desired.
Stick Animals
Stick fish
Simple crafts that can be used both as a material for playing with children and as decoration for a room can be made by gluing three sticks together to form a triangle. This is the base “body” to which you need to glue the missing parts cut out of cardboard: head, paws, arms, wings, fins.
Vase
Decorate your interior with an original fruit bowl made from sushi sticks. They can be simply attached to a wooden base using nails and glue or sewn together.
On the Internet you can find step-by-step instructions on how to make not only different versions of vases, but also lampshades, boxes, knitted baskets and simply 3D models.
Inspiration and imagination will give you new ideas for creativity, and crafts in the form of magic bamboo sticks, although they require tedious work, always look very impressive.
