It takes place in several stages:
- first you need to drive the car into the inspection hole;
- then additional supports must be placed under the front wheels (this is necessary to give the car the necessary stability);
- then proceed to the installation of the transverse beam, as the basis of the entire structure: the beam is attached to the body through special holes using bolts;
- Next, you need to install fastening plates and washers with nuts on the beam for subsequent fastening;
- then the clutch ball is adjusted, its position should correspond to the longitudinal axis of the car;
- then the towing hook must be installed on the pre-installed brackets;
- after completing the mechanical part of the installation of the structure, it is necessary, guided by the diagram, to connect the element to the car;
- To do this, you need to disconnect the car battery;
- It is necessary to route electrical wires through a special hole in the trunk and connect the towbar to the standard on-board network.
How to mount the device?
How to install correctly, step by step? To independently install the element on a Renault Logan, we install the car on an overpass. A pit is also perfect, and in its absence, we hang the rear axle using jacking devices. In the latter option, we resort to the mandatory use of recoil stops.

- Remove the muffler pipe from the rubber suspensions. For these purposes, we press the muffler body downwards, then we find a hole that appears in the stretched suspension. We insert a screwdriver, pre-lubricated with grease, into it and remove the muffler, subsequently placing it on the rear axle beam of the Renault Logan.
Important! After dismantling the muffler, we carefully clean its mounting bracket and suspension from traces of grease, since these elements must be dry during reassembly!
- Next, we go inside the trunk of Renault Logan. On the inner surface of the “cheeks” we find plastic plugs that plug the technological holes on the surface of the side members. Using a screwdriver, we can easily dismantle these elements.
- We repeat a similar operation under a Renault Logan car. From the bottom, the holes are carefully masked using factory self-adhesive tape. After breaking through it with a screwdriver, it would be useful to treat the contours of the holes with anti-corrosion treatment using a special agent (for example, mastic).
- Now we hang the previously indicated power plates on the bolts, onto which we attach the power beam.
- We carry out full tightening of all bolts only after 100% assembly, this is exactly how the installation of the tow bar should be. If the structure is not self-made, but purchased, then its installation is carried out in accordance with the algorithm indicated in the attached instructions.
- The electrical circuit is not complicated, so its installation does not cause any difficulties. For error-free wiring, it will be enough to disassemble the left stern headlight in order to study the switching features. From this headlight you can lead cables for connecting lamps: dimensions, brakes and left turn.
- We connect the right turn indicator by connecting it to the right headlight of the car.

The assembled beam includes five parts. The beam itself is a pipe with external dimensions of 60 by 40. You can use a pipe with a cross-section of 40 by 40, but then the cutout in the “cheek” will be reduced: dimensions 50 and 115 will become equal to 40 and 125. Everything is simple here.

Please note that the M12 nut must be welded to the flange. If this is not possible, mounting holes are drilled in the pipe wall. But it’s better not to do this - the beam must remain sealed!

It is important to follow one rule: all nuts are first tightened. When the towbar is assembled, you need to forcefully pull the beam back. And at this time, without releasing the beam, tighten the M10 nuts one by one.

I decided to expand the functionality of my car with a trailer, because... The harvest from the dacha is scheduled to be removed soon.
Based on the characteristics and reviews, I chose the towbar from the trusted manufacturer Bosal, towbar model 1418-A for Logan phase 1 and 2 (with electrics included).

1. It’s much more convenient to work together. I worked alone and had a lot of trouble. Especially when tightening the fasteners to the body side members. Doing this alone is EXTREMELY inconvenient (and generally only possible if you have long and tenacious arms).
2. It is highly advisable to secure the spacer bushings to the bolt entering the spar, for example, by placing pieces of wire insulation under them. Otherwise, one awkward movement, and the bushings will remain in the side members (most likely forever).
3. The cross beam is quite heavy in weight, especially when working alone - during installation I was helped by a stool, on which I placed the opposite end of the beam while I was screwing it on. DO NOT TIGHTEN the bolts until you have assembled the 2 mounts to the side members and the cross member. Once assembled, tighten alternately on each side.
4. On specialized forums, it is recommended to fill the towbar socket with lithol on the inside to prevent oxidation of the contacts and increase service life. I followed this advice. Moreover, I coated the contacts on the outside as well. If the measure does not justify itself, I will move the socket to the trunk and will only take it outside when transporting a trailer.
5. Complete wiring is connected to both lights. From the left is taken: turn signal, brake signals, fog lamp and ground. On the right is the turn signal, dimensions and license plate illumination. I ran the wires along the top of the cross beam, securing them with zip ties. On the left - I led it into the trunk through a rubber plug for the license plate light wire, on the right - by making a hole in the plug in the “pocket” of the trunk.
6. It seemed to me more convenient and faster to connect to the wiring of the lamps using a traditional good twist. With a sharp knife, I stripped 0.5 cm of insulation from the wires without cutting them. According to reviews, the clamping terminals-couplers included in the kit often break wire strands. They were sent to reserve.
