The girl's costume of the Arkhangelsk province consisted of a sundress, a shirt with “bridal sleeves” and a headdress - a crown.

One of the most important elements of a girl’s festive clothing was an elegant sundress. Bright orange circles on thin silvery branches are scattered across the blue field of the printed sundress.

Shirts were made from homespun canvas - linen or hemp. Shirts could be one-piece (sewn along the entire length from single panels) or composite, as in the costume of the Arkhangelsk girl.

The maiden crown of the Arkhangelsk girl is decorated with a gold-embroidered pattern, pearls and pearl mesh. Such precious crowns and headbands were ordered from special craftsmen who knew how to sew in gold and thread with beads and pearls.

A white shawl, a headdress, a shugai with a sundress, and pearls make up a woman’s costume.

Sundress with sugay warm silver-beige color. Shugai could be an outerwear or a maid's, long-sleeved home wear.

The Kargopol kokoshnik is embroidered with mother-of-pearl, silver and gold threads and pearls, the pearl mesh underneath goes down to the forehead, almost to the eyebrows. The white calico board is decorated with a large gold embroidery pattern, the corner going down to the back is especially richly embroidered. On the neck of the pearl there are many rows of small freshwater pearls.

A sundress with a “bouquet”, a patterned warmer with gold trim, a thin white shirt, a kokoshnik-borushka embroidered with gold and silver threads with a scarlet top, a neck decoration and a shawl embroidered with gold and silver flowers - this is the festive outfit of a young wife from the Vologda province.

The scarf tucked into the straps of the sundress is white with a scarlet ruffled strip of fabric along the edge. The same gathered stripe adorns the shirt at the wrists, and a wider one adorns the apron, tied under the chest. Under the apron is worn a printed sundress made of dark blue fabric with a hem trimmed with yellow ribbon and a strip of red gathered fabric.

On the head there is a bandage with a cap, which could only be worn by betrothed girls. The braid was tucked into a cap attached to the bandage. On the headband, stylized trees are embroidered with gold threads - thin stems with leaves.

The women's costume of the Yaroslavl province consists of a shirt, sundress, soul warmer, kokoshnik and veil.

The silhouette of the kokoshnik resembles the pointed frame of the window of one of the most beautiful churches in the city. The herbs on the kokoshnik are embroidered with gold threads, and it is decorated with small river pearls. Kokoshniks were made rigid from glued or quilted canvas (sometimes cardboard was used for the base) and covered with silk, brocade, satin, and velvet.
