how to make a juicer with your own hands from a washing machine or a meat grinder?

Homemade centrifugal juicer

A large harvest can not only please, but also greatly puzzle the summer resident. If you have parts from an old automatic car lying around in your garage and have basic skills in working with metal, then making a juice press at home will not be difficult.

To work you will need:

  • rivets;
  • bolts;
  • centrifuge with tank;
  • pulley with belt;
  • 1.1 kW motor;
  • stainless steel pipe 100 mm;
  • pipe 20 cm;
  • stainless steel mesh with 1 mm cells;
  • 2 mm metal sheet and pieces of tin;
  • thin rubber;
  • steel corners.

Much depends on the existing tank, its size, and available means. The main purpose of remodeling is to use unnecessary parts. The desire to improve and refine the design can be realized using purchased parts.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Remove the tank from the housing, remove the heating element and all related elements. Descale with vinegar or lemon essence.
  2. In a tank separated from the centrifuge, rivet all the slots with pieces of sheet metal of a suitable size. Leave a single hole with a diameter equal to the pipe for draining juice.
  3. Prepare a grater for chopping fruit. Take a sheet of metal and cut out a perfectly even circle with a diameter 20 cm smaller than the bottom of the centrifuge. Cut a gasket from thin rubber, place it between the bottom and the grater, paying special attention to the symmetry of the ring. Strengthen the structure with another circle of metal placed under the future grater.
  4. Drill 5 mm holes in the steel sheet in 15 mm increments. Use a punch to give the holes the shape of teeth, as on a regular food grater.
  5. Bolt the grater, metal reinforcement and gasket to the bottom of the centrifuge. The nuts should be on the outside; it is good to reinforce them with washers so that the bolts do not unscrew during rotation.
  6. Screw the pulley with the belt. Install and connect the motor. You can use the original motor if it produces at least 1500 rpm. At lower speeds, you should take any more powerful engine.
  7. The centrifuge already has holes for filtering the pulp, but they are too large and the juice will be cloudy. To fix this, there are two ways: riveting a stainless fine mesh to the inside of the drum or using a clean filter cloth each time. If you lay out the mesh, then attach it as best as possible to the centrifuge, absolutely motionless, without protruding edges and corners. With fabric everything is simpler; each time before processing fruit you need to soak it in warm water, distribute it over the drum, turn on the device, and the centrifugal force will fix it to the walls.
  8. Secure a 100 mm pipe above the grater at a distance of 4 cm using bolts and metal corners. It’s better to move the pipe from the center closer to the sides to make it more convenient to get the pulp out without having to disassemble the entire structure.
  9. To keep the unit stationary during operation, it should be installed on a frame welded from metal corners. If this is not possible, a rubber tire will dampen vibrations and provide relative stability.
  10. Attach the pipe to the tank to drain the drink.

Video on how to do everything yourself:

Most often, this juicer is used for apples, pears, and carrots. It is better than a simple apple chopper in that it produces absolutely pure juice in a short period of time, without requiring an additional press. When working with grapes, you cannot do without a press and chopping due to the peculiar structure of the berries.

Do-it-yourself auger juicer - Metalist's Guide

Hot summer and the first days of autumn delight us with the aromatic fragrance of ripened fruits. The piquant taste of grapes and apple's burst of vitamins, the unique taste of pear and healthy tomato juice - the table at this time of year is filled with a lot of fruits and vegetables.

To diversify your menu and regularly delight yourself with refreshing fresh juice, you can make a juicer at home. This invention is an alternative to bulky, loud and expensive devices.

Equipment and sequence of actions

To make a homemade centrifugal juicer, we need an old washing machine (necessarily with a working centrifuge).

The resulting semi-automatic device will perform a number of tasks:

  • grind raw materials;
  • squeeze and filter juice;
  • wash the internal installation yourself.

A mandatory requirement for the selected washing machine model is an existing activator at the bottom of the tank. Old samples that have serviceable parts are also suitable for use.

You should know: the topic of “homemade products” began to be actively developed in the press in the early 90s. The idea of installing and launching the device was one of the first to be proposed by engineer Kotenev and inventor Maslov (Modelist-Constructor magazine).

To make your work easier, first of all you need to draw detailed drawings: make a detailed layout of the future juicer. Then you should prepare all the tools.

In the process we will need the following elements:

  • centrifuge;
  • serviceable casing;
  • brackets for fastenings;
  • bearings of different sizes.

Selected elements should be cleaned from regular exposure to powder - rust and scale. To do this, use fine sandpaper to polish all surfaces to a shine.

Please note: there should be only two holes in the design: for laying raw materials and draining juice. Other voids and holes must be sealed with rubber pads.

The next steps are making the grater and gasket. To do this we need a cutting tool, for example, a grinder. It is better to cut the gasket from stainless steel to increase the durability of the entire device.

To make a grater, you will need to work out technical drawings and perform a number of simple steps:

  1. Drill small holes.
  2. Divide the resulting circles into sectors.
  3. Attach the workpiece to the screws.
  4. Stuff the cutting teeth.

What you shouldn't forget

An important nuance is the modification of the drum. This part should be equipped with additional stiffeners and a filter mesh.

To make a bunker for apples and other raw materials, you will need a polyethylene pipe . Use metal corners to secure it.

The pipe should be screwed with a slight deviation from the center so that its edge is “at the exit” of the grater.

Any wooden cutting can be used to make a pusher for tomatoes and other fruits. Don't forget to put a limiter so that the device does not sag or sink to the grater.

To make a high-performance squeezer, you will definitely need a powerful engine. It is important to secure all parts well and insulate electrical parts.

Remember: before starting, be sure to wash all parts with detergent. Components must be made from proven materials and prevent oxidation, corrosion and the penetration of harmful substances into the juice.

Before you start actively using the juicer in your country house or city kitchen, you must make a test run. When rotating the drum, pay attention to extraneous noises, knocking and beating. Any extra sound indicates an imperfect design.

Initial launch benefits:

  • the opportunity to test in practice all the capabilities of the device;
  • prevention of negative aspects in the future during operation;
  • technical condition monitoring.

For the first productive launch, you need to carefully prepare and sort out the raw materials. Dense and strong parts, for example, apple cores or pear seeds, do not need to be removed, as this will not interfere with work.

We place a container under the tube, put the fruits in the hopper, and press them against the wall with a pusher. Juicing should be done before vibration sensations begin.

If a slight vibration appears, stop casting and let the device spin.

After completing the session, it is imperative to immediately disassemble the device and wash all parts.

Other ideas for squeezing fruits and vegetables

A medium-capacity manual auger juicer can be made from a meat grinder. You will have to extract the juice by rotating the handle yourself. This device is the best option for small volumes.

The main advantages of this type:

  • affordable price;
  • reliability;
  • long-term operation.

To improve the design, you can use plastic bottles. We take a container and cut off its bottom at a distance of 10-15 cm from the bottom edge.

Then we insert a small bottle into the resulting hole, having previously made small holes in it. Unscrew the plug and you can get to work.

This option is only suitable for irregular juicing for one person..

Don't be afraid to experiment and learn something new. A homemade juicer will delight you with its performance while saving significantly on its purchase. Keep the taste of summer and saturate your body with vitamins regularly.

Homemade apple juicer

Today we will tell you, using materials from one video review (special correspondent), how to prepare dry wine, similar to what is sold in stores. We mean facts of fakes, not a real quality product. However, the result will surprise readers.

What does this have to do with a homemade apple juicer? The connection is obvious. We will make bormotukha after receiving fermented apple juice. We do not encourage you to repeat the steps below or drink the resulting product.

It’s just that the journalistic investigation made the right impression, so we decided to share it.

DIY juicers

A man must be handy. The village knew. There was no concept of DIY. By and large, it is not customary to do anything else. The crooked ones were reproached: they are not growing from the right place.

The question of how to make an apple juicer has not been asked; the solution has long been found. A long trough was made using boards. As for feeding pigs. Rectangular on the inside.

The apples were cut, discarding the wormy parts, and the cores and cuttings (which served as a source of increased levels of bacteria that ferment the juice) were removed.

The resulting pulp was poured into a trough and crushed.

In order to prepare apples for pouring into the juicer, a special spatula was made. We believe that in the absence of iron, you will make a sharp tool from wood; nowadays it is much easier to find a spatula like a sapper's one.

Then the mash was carefully packed with gauze and transferred to a press-type juicer.

For example, a tub with sheer walls. A special piston was made to match the cross-section. The device of the homemade juicer was completed by a worm mechanism that squeezed the pulp with terrible force. A hole was cut in the bottom of the tub, near the base. Ready ale was removed from a homemade juicer.

The gauze had to be placed inside the tub, the product collection container was placed, the piston was pushed in, and the process began. If there was no worm mechanism, the homemade juicer was supplemented with a couple of heavy boulders, which the owner pressed on top with his hands. The juice began to flow abundantly.

Why does modern man need something like this? Still want to make a juicer yourself, instead of buying from Vladimir from Togliatti, who gets a bucket of clear apple cider in 20 minutes? Feed the dry cake to the birds in winter... Vitamins, iron. We consider the review as informational and entertaining. We do not encourage you to repeat it.

The promised wine using a homemade juicer

Below is a recipe for chatterbox made by specialists from a special laboratory for the Special Correspondent program. The process is so exciting that it outshines the description of making a homemade juicer. Bormotukha took the silver medal in Sochi.

If the juice from unsuccessfully rolled up cans has fermented, housewives advise:

  1. Boil until the taste improves. The method is not very good, the aftertaste of fermentation will remain.
  2. Take into account for the future, improve the sanitary conditions in the area of the homemade juicer. Throw out the spoiled product.
  3. Allow the juice to completely ferment. It turns out apple cider vinegar, we use it in cooking as usual. Homemade vinegar turns out to be softer.
  4. Start making cider according to the recipe.

We suggest that you finally start creating a chatterbox in order to avoid questions about why you painstakingly made a homemade juicer.

Not just to compete with Vladimir from Tolyatti? In order for the juice to ferment better, you must find a warm place and add sugar (feed the bacteria).

If you made cider, the pulp of the trough will do, since the task is to take the medal, let's continue. In three or four days the next step.

Pour fermented juice from a homemade juicer into a large container. The volume overlap is about two times. Stock up for future use:

  • citric acid;
  • soda;
  • cheap imported dry wine;
  • glycerin;
  • alcohol.

Operating principle of juice extraction devices

To create a good juicer, it is important to understand how it works. Obtaining fruit, vegetable or berry juice can occur simultaneously or sequentially. Screw models remove it immediately at the time of processing, but their assembly will require time and money. Centrifugal devices first grind the raw materials in a centrifuge, and then pass them through a press.

Based on the principle of operation, juicer designs are divided into the following types:

  • hydraulic;
  • mechanical;
  • pneumatic;
  • electrohydraulic.

The simplest structure is a mechanical type device. This is what is most often created independently at home. The principle of operation of such a juicer is to apply pressure to the raw material with a piston, which begins to work under the influence of a simple screw mechanism. First, berries and fruits are sent to a perforated container. Next, under strong pressure, juice is squeezed out of the products, which drips into the tray through special holes in the walls of the basket.

It doesn't matter what design of the device was chosen. To make a homemade apple juicer, you will need a basket for raw materials, a mechanism for chopping and squeezing, and a container for the squeezed juice.

Own juicer project: folk methods for extracting natural juices

Juicers are necessary for every summer resident and gardener. These devices are especially useful when it comes to pressing fruits at the end of the summer season. The design of such a device is quite simple, so it is not at all necessary to purchase it in a store.

A homemade juicer will help you process a large volume of fruits and berries quickly and easily.

To make such a device, we will need materials and tools, as well as a couple of hours of our precious time. Let's learn more about how to make a juicer with your own hands.

Let's look at the main types of homemade units.

Types of juicers

When you go to a hardware store, you will notice how varied the juicers are. Each is designed to perform specific tasks. But according to the principle of operation, they are divided into two types: centrifugal and screw. They are also manual and electric (the grater rotates due to the incoming voltage).

In turn, electrical appliances are divided into household (for home use), professional (cafes, restaurants, canteens) and industrial (for factories, etc.).

Press

If possible, a screw press was used, consisting of:

  • support frame made of wood or metal;
  • screw with handle for tightening;
  • round support board with a diameter corresponding to the internal dimensions of the container.

The possibility of using a welding machine will allow you to assemble a press from metal. Alternatively you can use:

  • two pipes;
  • a U-shaped profile is welded on top;
  • a hole is made in the profile and a threaded head is welded to install the screw;
  • a push-up stop must be provided on the bottom of the screw;
  • top rotation handle;
  • A pair of clamps are welded to the pipes from below for fastening to the support board;
  • Instead of clamps, a support structure made of a metal profile can be used.

This option will not be too costly in terms of time and resources. The performance of the device depends on the volume of the tub.

In operation, the pressing method is more labor-intensive due to the fact that a significant part of the work is performed manually.

Functions of juicers

Recently, juicer manufacturers have been adding many additional functions to their machines that seem necessary and convenient.

But before you decide to purchase such an upgraded device, think about the main purpose for which you are purchasing it.

As a rule, many functions turn out to be completely unclaimed and almost never tested in practice. But at the same time, additional characteristics of the device increase its cost.

But there are also useful functions that an automatic tomato juicer can be equipped with. For example, many people find it convenient that the grids or grates of the device are capable of peeling or cooling themselves during the process to avoid overheating. Such additions are really useful if you have to process large volumes.

How to make a loading hopper and pusher

For dosed loading of fruits, you will need to make a bunker. It can be made from a piece of plastic pipe with a diameter of 100 mm. It is fixed obliquely so that the fruits roll onto the edge of the grater. The hopper is attached to the device body with aluminum or steel angles with bolts

Pipe for making a bunker

The pusher can be made from a birch cutting for a shovel. A circle of plywood with a diameter 5 mm smaller than the diameter of the pipe is attached to the lower edge. A transverse stop is installed on the top one.

Which juicer is suitable for obtaining tomato juice?

As a rule, centrifugal machines are not suitable for processing tomatoes. The resulting juice remains of poor quality and watery. In this case, the tomato pulp heavily clogs the sieve, and it can take a lot of time to clean it.

Many people are convinced that a tomato juicer should be of the auger type. Outwardly, it resembles a standard meat grinder. Such devices are capable of finely grinding tomatoes and squeezing them through a sieve.

At the same time, the pulp and seeds are well ground, and the output is high-quality, rich juice. It is much more convenient to use an electric juicer. It is easy to use and gets the job done faster.

But you can get delicious juice even if you purchased a mechanical one or for tomatoes.

Manual, mechanical and electric tomato juicers

There are devices that operate on a manual, mechanical or electrical principle. A manual juicer is considered the easiest to use, because it does not require electricity to obtain juice, which is especially important in dachas, where there is often no light or constant power outages.

The most popular in this category are pressing devices, for example, models “SVR-01” and “SVR-02”. The devices are containers with a screw press located inside the housing. The handle that operates the device is located at the top of the device.

The design is based on a stainless steel body, so the juicer is lightweight, but at the same time it is suitable for processing large quantities of tomatoes. However, you need to be prepared that you will have to spend quite a lot of time and effort during the work process.

A mechanical manual tomato juicer is also a simple design, the main components of which are:

  • screw shaft;
  • handle;
  • suction cups for installation;
  • a chute for loading vegetables or fruits;
  • juice outlet tube.

This principle is used by the Motor Sich SBCH-1 model, as well as the Healthy Juicer and Tomato Juicer juicers, which are among the most common mechanical auger devices. The devices are activated by a handle that triggers a shaft, which acts as a kind of press that grinds and chops the fruit.

Tomato juicers are divided into devices that operate on a manual, mechanical or electrical principle.

The resulting mass is pushed to the sieve under high pressure, after which the juice supply begins. The operating principle of a mechanical tomato juicer is based on the cold pressing method, which allows you to obtain a rich product in which all the important elements are preserved.

Electric juicers are mainly represented by auger devices, the shaft of which is driven by a built-in electric motor.

A distinctive feature of electric tomato juicers is their high productivity, which allows you to process a large number of vegetables at a time and spend a relatively short period of time on it.

Thus, most models have a screw that can spin up to a speed of 200 rpm. In this case, the power can be small, for example, 250 W.

On a note! Even the lowest-power electric auger juicer is designed to process 40-50 kg of tomatoes per hour. This device is the easiest to use, but it is important to pay attention to the presence of an automatic pulp removal system.

If you are wondering which tomato juicer is better - electric or mechanical, then it is worth considering that each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. If you choose a quality product and do the right work, you will be able to get healthy and rich juice using either one or the other version of the device.

Mechanical manual tomato juicers are very popular.

The principle of auger devices

A manual auger for juice is very similar to a meat grinder, but its difference is that the juicer has a cone-shaped auger.

That is why many craftsmen manage to make a unit such as a tomato juicer from a meat grinder with their own hands. The main thing is to choose a suitable nozzle, which is easy to buy. To obtain juice, cut tomatoes are placed in a bowl.

As the auger moves, the juice and pulp are separated. The liquid passes through the grate. The remainder passes further and falls into the container.

The mechanical version of the juicer has a slightly different design, and the juice is obtained by pressing vegetables. When you press the lever, pressure is created and the tomato releases juice.

In electric models, the motor rotates the grater, which grinds the fruit. The juice flows into a glass, which is included in the kit.

Other ideas for squeezing fruits and vegetables

A medium-capacity manual auger juicer can be made from a meat grinder. You will have to extract the juice by rotating the handle yourself. This device is the best option for small volumes.

The main advantages of this type:

  • affordable price;
  • reliability;

This option is only suitable for irregular juicing for one person.

Preparing tools and materials to create a juicer

To build such a device, you will first need an old washing machine, perhaps even one that is out of order. The main thing is that the motor is working and the drive mechanism is in working order.

In addition, you will need: wooden blocks for installing the device, metal mesh, a set of bolts with nuts, rubber plugs, a piece of clean hose for draining the juice and a large container for the finished product.

Tools you will need: a set of screwdrivers, wrenches, welding, an angle grinder with a metal disc, a drill and a hammer. Metal scissors will also come in handy.

Typical faults

Common breakdowns:

  1. Wear of plastic gears.
  2. Heavy pollution.
  3. Blown fuse (if any).
  4. Failure of control circuit elements.
  5. Corrosion or shorted contacts.
  6. Wear of engine parts.

If the juicer is many years old and its warranty has long expired, then perhaps it has simply served its lifespan, as calculated by its manufacturer (not out of nowhere). However, if the juicer is “overseas”, then its manufacturer may not have even imagined that someone would disassemble his creation on their own and try to repair it after so many years of service!

But if the juicer was not physically damaged immediately before the breakdown, but simply suddenly stopped working, then this may mean that over time it could have become very dirty, some contacts have oxidized due to humidity, maybe the wires have burned out somewhere or something has shorted out. Anything could happen, but the main thing is that nothing serious happened to it, which means you can count on a successful repair. After all, the very fact of long, uninterrupted operation speaks of the reliability of the juicer. If it weren't reliable, it would have broken during the warranty period.

Advantages of a homemade juicer

A juicer constructed from an old automatic washing machine or activator-type machine is easy to use. A grater is installed at the bottom of the tank. Raw materials are poured through a wide hole capable of passing a whole apple or other large fruit. It is crushed and the juice is squeezed out.

The advantage of a homemade device is that it allows you to make juice in large volumes. The drum of such a juicer is much more spacious than store-bought equipment . If you add a powerful motor to it, then within an hour you can get up to 20 liters of juice.

Some tips:

  1. Although the knives are strong and wear-resistant, they are made of high-carbon steel. This means they are more susceptible to corrosion, so try to keep the knives dry, clean and periodically lubricate them, for example, with castor oil
  1. In order to guarantee the crushed fraction, use sieves with cells of a given diameter from 2 to 6 mm. For chickens - fine grinding, for crushing calves - coarser.
  1. To chop grass or hay: before putting them in the chopper, fold them into small bunches - this is faster and more convenient.
  1. If the sieve becomes clogged when crushing grain, there is only one explanation - damp grain. Having received porridge, instead of crushed grains, stop the process, clean the sieve, knife, change the grain to dry.
  1. Experiment : when crushing grain, by choosing different speeds of rotation of the knife, you can achieve the desired fraction sizes; when cutting root vegetables, apples, pumpkins, watermelon rinds, you can also get thinly sliced “chips” or “porridge” - everything is in your hands
  1. Keep your books: measure how much grain you took, how much crushed grain came out, weigh the rolls of hay sold to you - often what they sell weighs not 500 kg, but 250-350 kg.
  1. If you want good milk yield in winter, pamper your cows , and don’t just steam the hay overnight: add chopped fodder beets, carrots, raw potatoes, pumpkin, Jerusalem artichoke. If you have silage, diversify the cow’s menu with it. The need of poultry and cattle for protein and high-calorie feed can be satisfied with meal. Due to the rise in price of imported soybean meal, it is worth paying attention to equally effective and less expensive rapeseed meal and cake. Research mineral supplements, test, for example, the famous felucene

Design advantages

If you have an old, unwanted washing machine with a working spinner, consider yourself putting it to good use.

The essence of a standard juicer is that fruits and vegetables are thrown into a special hole. It should be wide enough for a whole apple, pear and other fruits. The fruit then goes into a centrifuge, at the bottom of which there is a grater. After grinding, the juice is squeezed out.

The advantages of a washer as a juicer are that the volume of its drum exceeds the capacity of conventional appliances. And if you use an engine that produces 1500 rpm, then you can quickly and efficiently chop the fruits and get 10-20 liters of juice per hour.

Shredder advantages

The universal crusher has a number of advantages:

  1. Processing large volume apples will take a minimum of time.
  2. The amount of waste is kept to a minimum. All the juice is squeezed out of the fruit, and a small amount of cake is used for the remainder.
  3. Designing a home shredder is a low-cost process.
  4. When processing fruits in this way, physical effort is reduced to a minimum.
  5. Small batches of apples are most convenient to process, which is ideal for household use.
  6. The equipment is practical and reliable.
  7. If the installation fails, you can repair it yourself, without resorting to the help of specialists, which significantly saves money.

To construct an apple crusher at home, use a standard set of tools. No special equipment is needed here. In addition, you will also need materials to manufacture the device, and if you do not have suitable parts on hand, you will have to make a purchase.

Shredders come in different types:

  • metal;
  • wooden;
  • combined.

But the main thing is not what the installation is made of, but how it copes with functional tasks. So, let's look at how to make a crusher with your own hands.

Automatic washing machine and rotary juicer

What you need from a washing machine

Typical domestically produced rotary juicers operate at a maximum of 3000 rpm. The speed is enough to compress the pulp by centrifugal force on the mesh walls of the centrifuge. Fruits and vegetables are thrown inside through a special spout to serve the fruit. It is designed to be large enough to allow whole apples, carrots, and beets to pass through. At the bottom of the horizontal centrifuge there is a grater in the form of a circle. Engaged in grinding fruits to pulp, which is subsequently squeezed out.

The faster the rotation and the larger the radius of the centrifuge, the more intense the process. Typical juicers will not exceed the diameter of a washing machine drum; a motor or gearbox will need 1500 revolutions (see below). This is normal operation during spinning; the mechanical part will not be damaged.

We choose a narrow model of a belt-driven washing machine. Modern direct drive will not suit you. The dimensions of the drum directly depend on the depth of the washing machine. The diameter remains almost unchanged, the height of the walls will be smaller. When we place the mechanism vertically, the low setting will ensure a modest lateral load from possible distortions on the bearings and seals. Consequently, the longer the homemade juicer from the washing machine will last. An apple juicer made with your own hands will require the following sacrifices from the machine:

  1. Drum.
  2. Tank (casing).
  3. Belt pulley.
  4. Belt.

We remove the mechanical part from the washing machine along with bearings and seals.

The question is, why not use the original motor. Let's answer - if you can set it to 1800 rpm, the option is ideal. The pulley will have to be removed from the original engine.

Do-it-yourself juicer from a meat grinder - Metals, equipment, instructions

Summer and autumn delight gardeners with abundant harvests. Unfortunately, it is impossible to store crops at home for a long time. To process it, you will need a juicer. You can buy it, or you can make it yourself from a used washing machine. To do this, you need to have metalworking and welding skills.

How the juicer works

The way the juicer works is very simple: it breaks the integrity of apples, grapes, apricots, etc., dividing them into a liquid fraction - juice and dehydrated fiber - cake. The main components of the juicer are as follows:

  • Hopper into which fruits or berries are loaded
  • A chopper that destroys the peel and structure of the fruit. Rotating knives or a drum grater are used.
  • Device for squeezing juice. This can be a press or centrifugal force arising in a rotating drum.
  • A filter separating the liquid fraction and cake.
  • Stand for bottles or containers for collecting juice

The simplest juicer is a construction mixer clamped in the chuck of a high-speed drill.

Materials and tools

The design of a home-made juicer, which is more complex to manufacture, but also produces higher-quality products, is built on the basis of a used front-loading washing machine.

At the first stage, you need to remove nodes that are no longer useful:

  • pump;
  • water heating system;
  • control system;
  • water supply and drain pipelines and valves;
  • back wall and bottom.

General view of the device

Materials you will need:

  • Two springs to cushion the drum. They are designed to balance the increased horizontal centrifugal force, since the device will be operated with the hatch facing upwards.
  • Two strips of metal mesh 300*60 mm.
  • Container for storing juice.
  • Drain pipe.
  • Plugs.
  • Fasteners

Tools needed:

  • high-speed screwdriver or drill;
  • Angle Grinder;
  • welding machine;
  • set of hand tools.

You will also need a workbench with a vice.

Juicer from washing machine

Below are instructions on how to make a juicer out of a washing machine.

To dismantle, the machine must be placed on the rear wall and secured. The following should remain on the frame:

  • loading hatch;
  • sealing collar;
  • drum;
  • electric motor and drive.

Next you need to perform the following operations:

  • remove the belt that rotates the drum from the pulleys;

Pulley removal

  • remove shock-absorbing springs and other parts that interfere with removing the tank;
  • remove the sealing collar;

Removing the cuff

Removing the drum and tank

  • clean them of dirt, rinse with vinegar.

Heating elements, sensors and other equipment should also be removed from the tank and the remaining openings should be sealed with rubber plugs.

Now comes the stage of finalizing parts and assemblies:

  • Assemble the tank and secure it in its original place.
  • Install the sealing collar.
  • Weld the holes in the drum.
  • Remove the ribs inside the drum. There is no need to remove the fasteners.
  • Drill 100-200 holes in it with a diameter of 1 - 1.5 mm.
  • Inside the drum, secure the mesh strips with self-tapping screws between the places where the ribs are attached.
  • Secure the shock absorbing springs.
  • Connect the electric motor to the network via a switch. The engine power must be at least 1-1.5 kilowatts.
  • Finally secure the device on a horizontal base with the hatch facing up.

The test run should be carried out without downloading. When rotating, the drum should not touch the walls of the tank. If everything is in order, you need to place a juice container next to the drain pipe.

Fruits placed in a drum will break into a pulp, hitting the nets, the ribs and each other. Centrifugal force will force the juice through the holes into the tank, from where it will flow into the storage tank.

Grain crusher from a washing machine

An industrial grain crusher is not cheap. If a home craftsman has the skills of plumbing, electrical engineering and welding, and there is a broken activator-type washing machine in the pantry, then it is quite possible to convert it into a grain crusher, or, as they say, a grain crusher.

Grain crusher from a washing machine

Required materials, tools and design

To make a grain crusher you will need

  • Oka washing machine - 1 pc.;
  • knives for crushing grain - 3 pcs.;
  • grid with a cell of 2-3 mm;
  • tin and rubber for gaskets;
  • sleeve;
  • flange.
  • a piece of plastic pipe with a diameter of 100-150 mm

Tools and equipment that will be useful:

  • drill or high-speed screwdriver;
  • a set of hand tools;
  • angle grinder or grinder.

The changes made to the design of the machine boil down to replacing the activator with flat knives with curved ends. The grain is poured into the hopper (2), which serves as the washing machine tank.

Rotating, the knives (4) crush the grain and throw it onto the calibrating grid (7). Grain particles smaller than the grid cell pass through it and fall into the funnel (8) and then into the storage tank.

Particles that do not pass through the grate return to the knives in a stream of grain and are crushed again.

Structure of a grain crusher

During preparation, you will need to remove the plastic activator cover. The knives are made of steel strip 3-4 mm thick; their ends must be bent in opposite directions so that they do not touch the walls of the tank.

The hole for mounting on the shaft must be drilled exactly in the middle of the strip, otherwise it will be poorly balanced and cause wobbling during rotation. The flange on one side is put on the pulley, on the other side it has a threaded rod for attaching knives.

You should also prepare a rubber gasket and a square patch made of tin to prevent grain from getting into the drive.

Assembling the device

Grain crusher - top view

Assembly begins by attaching the chopper blades to the flange. Next, the bushing, passed through the gaskets, is attached to the pulley. The patch should be attached to the tank body in such a way that the knives do not touch it when rotating.

The next stage is the installation of a funnel for collecting and discharging crushed grain. The drain located at the very bottom of the tank will not be converted. The sequence of operations is as follows:

  • Using a chisel or grinder, bring the drain hole to a diameter of 120-150 mm.
  • Insert a piece of pipe into the hole and secure it.
  • Take the pipe to the side and direct it into a storage tank.

The next stage is the installation of a separator grid. To do this you need:

  • Mark the installation line at the bottom of the tank so that it is 1-2 cm from the blade rotation zone.
  • Cut the grid from the mesh so that it is placed perpendicular to the bottom of the tank and fits snugly to both the bottom and the side walls.
  • Secure the grille with self-tapping screws to the surface of the tank. For reliability, you can use clamping strips made of thin strips cut from a sheet of metal.
  • The cracks should be coated with a cold welding compound or silicone sealant.

Before the test run, you must securely secure the device to prevent it from tipping over or falling. The trial run is carried out without grain. During this process, it is necessary to ensure that

  • the knives do not touch the bottom of the tank and the sealing gasket;
  • the knives are well secured to the bushing, and the bushing is to the flange;
  • there is no beating of the knives due to imbalance.

If runout is detected, balancing is carried out by balancing the knife along the hole line. Small holes are drilled in the lowered part until the parts are balanced.

After a successful test run, you need to make sure that there is a storage tank under the outlet pipe. Next, you can pour approximately 5-7 liters of grain into the tank, close the tank with a lid and turn on the machine at maximum speed. To reduce dust, you can put a blanket over the lid.

The new life of the washing machine as a grain crusher has begun. Bon appetit to your pets.

Other ways to make juicers

If the skills of a home craftsman do not allow you to make a juicer from a washing machine, or you simply don’t have such a machine at hand, you can process the crop in another way.

A construction mixer used to mix solutions or paint is suitable for crushing fruits. Several holes are drilled in its lower part, and bolts protruding 10-15 mm are screwed into them. The fruits are crushed in a bucket, then the mass is placed in a woven bag and placed in a press.

Chopping apples with a mixer

A large non-enamel pan is suitable for making the press. Holes should be drilled in the bottom of the pan at the same frequency as in the colander.

Juicer from a saucepan

The bag is placed in a modified pan and placed under pressure. Apple or pear juice flows out through the holes, the pulp remains in the bag. Instead of oppression, you can use a hydraulic jack.

Using a jack to squeeze juice

This method provides less productivity and depth of processing of raw materials than the manufacture of a full-fledged homemade juicer used for processing apples.

How to make an apple juicer with your own hands: components and assembly

The question of whether a juicer can be made with one’s own hands is primarily of interest to owners of summer cottages and garden plots who annually harvest fruits and berries, which need to be quickly processed and preserved. Adding even more relevance to this issue is the fact that juices obtained independently are much tastier and healthier than those sold in stores.

Any garden owner can make this or a similar screw press.

Today, purchasing a juicer of any capacity does not present any particular problems, but such equipment is not cheap. That is why it is advisable to make a juice press with your own hands, especially since the design of such devices is not very complex.

Juicer from an activator type machine

To construct a juicer, you need an Oka washing machine or a Sibir washing machine. Other brands with a spin cycle and an activator installed at the bottom of the tank are also suitable.

Procedure:

  • remove the activator and shaft;
  • install a new threaded shaft;
  • fasten three knives on the shaft with nuts, rotated 60° (all materials must be made of stainless steel);
  • install a plug on the drain hole;
  • Place a wire mesh up to 0.25 mm thick with a 1.5 mm cell in the centrifuge so that it overlaps the sides of the drum by 4-5 cm;
  • close the hole in the rubber cap that comes with the kit with a plug and place it on the bottom of the centrifuge;
  • Wash the internal parts of the machine, hoses, and pump with a baking soda solution.

The resulting juicer will work longer than the washing machine programs allow, so the time relay should be turned off or the switch should be blocked after starting.

How to get juice:

Wash fruits or vegetables and place small quantities into the washing tub, in which the knives rotate. Grinding lasts from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the variety and ripeness of the fruit. The resulting liquid puree is placed in small portions (up to 3 liters) in a centrifuge. If you put more, it will be thrown out during operation. Turn on the juicer and squeeze the juice out of the resulting mass. After a few minutes, remove the mesh with the cake and shake it out.

Advantages of the device:

  • up to 12 liters of juice per hour;
  • no need to peel and cut berries and fruits;
  • constant presence is not required.

Depending on the type of raw material and the duration of grinding, the juice will contain some amount of pulp. To get rid of it, just pass the liquid through a filter or let it settle.

How to make an apple grater

The simplest models are assembled even without drawings.
You will need a stainless steel sheet measuring 30 × 50 cm, a plate connecting the elements, a control lever and a tabletop to place and secure the structure. First, a hole in the lid of the required diameter is cut out, then a stainless steel sheet is connected using a plate. All that remains is to secure the rotation lever and secure the hand grater to the countertop. You can immediately use it on the farm.

List of required materials

A simplified version of the grater is made from the following elements:

  • galvanized bucket;
  • stiffeners in the form of steel rods;
  • reinforcement cut;
  • box made of wood or metal;
  • bedside tables (tables).

The manufacturing principle is simple: cut off the handle and bottom of the bucket, drill the walls with a drill so that you get sharp edges (like a homemade grater). The structure is covered with stiffening ribs. Pull the reinforcement through the holes in the bucket, bend it and form a lever to rotate the homemade grater drum. Place an apple box on top and secure it with self-tapping screws. For convenience, place the structure on a table (bedside table). Under the influence of gravity, the fruit will move towards the grater, which is rotated manually.

Step-by-step instructions with drawings

Drawings will be needed for more complex designs based on an electric motor. A simple grater is assembled step by step from a galvanized sheet, a ¾-inch pipe, a 25 × 25 mm angle and a shaft with bearings. An example of a drawing for assembling a mechanical type structure:

Instructions for assembling an effective mechanical grater:

  1. Making a grater drum. A galvanized sheet in the shape of an elongated rectangle 200 × 600 mm is marked for perforation.
  2. The sheet is drilled in a checkerboard pattern using a drill with a diameter of 6 to 12 mm (depending on the required size of the resulting raw material).
  3. Teeth are formed on the resulting holes. A steel rod of the same diameter is inserted into each hole and driven with a hammer through the hole.
  4. After sharpening the teeth, the galvanized steel is bent into a cylinder shape and the ends are riveted.
  5. To increase the rigidity of the drum, reinforcing or wire rings are welded along the edges. Steel strips are welded through the centers of the rings.
  6. The angle and pipe are used to weld the frame for the drum. The height is chosen so that you can comfortably rotate the unit lever in a sitting position.
  7. Holes are drilled in the center of the strips on the drum and a shaft is welded into them. On one side the shaft becomes a support for the handle.
  8. Bearings are installed on both sides of the shaft and screwed to the frame.
  9. A galvanized funnel is mounted on top of the structure.

The resulting structure is used for chopping apples, zucchini, pumpkin, carrots, and pears. A container is placed under the bottom of the drum into which the processed juicy pulp falls.

Instructions on how to make a juicer at home

You can make your own juicer from any automatic washing machine - with front or vertical loading. The main thing is that there is a belt drive, since a direct drive model will not work.

If you have a front-loading washer, you will have to place it on its back, with the hatch facing up.

Preparing for work

First, remove from the machine body all the parts that are no longer needed: pump, pressure switch, intake valve, drain filter and control panel.

Pre-prepared drawings and drawings will help make the work easier. This way you can perform all the steps sequentially, referring to the diagram.

Prepare the necessary details:

  • two metal meshes measuring 30x6 cm;
  • bolts with nuts 3 mm;
  • utensils for collecting juice;
  • drain pipe;
  • rubber plugs.

You will also need tools:

  • screwdrivers and wrenches;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • drill;
  • pliers;
  • hammer;
  • metal scissors.

Before putting the car down, prepare the support bars on which it will be secured.

Prepare the body for refurbishment

How to do it:

To create a juicer at home, it is advisable to take a stainless steel drum. However, a plastic drum will also work.

  • All holes in the drum need to be sealed by welding because they are too large.
  • Drill many small holes around the perimeter of the drum.
  • Now put the tank back together by screwing in the screws. If the tank was non-separable, you need to prepare holes for self-tapping screws in advance.

Place the tank back into the body, return the sealing rubber and shock absorber springs to their place.

Modify the drum

Since to make the juicer yourself you will need most of the parts from the washing machine, it will cost you almost free. But in order for the drum to become a full-fledged chopper for apples and other fruits, it needs to be modified.

Make a grater. The fact is that the holes located on the surface of the drum are too large. They will turn the fruit into puree rather than juice. Therefore, take the prepared mesh strips and install them in a circle between the ribs of the drum. Secure the mesh in place with small screws. If necessary, you can remove the mesh and clean it.

A rib punch, which needs to be further sharpened, will help you chop fruits and vegetables. Don't forget to attach a pipe to the drain hole. The design is ready, all that remains is to connect the motor.

Since the control panel is removed when not needed, you will have to connect an additional switch.

To connect the motor correctly, you need to follow the electrical diagram. We have already described this in other articles, so watch the video on the topic:

Disassembly procedure: step-by-step instructions

You need to start disassembling the juicer from the top part, the elements of which are either simply tightly inserted into each other or are held in place with clamps. That is, we need to disconnect from the juicer everything that can be removed without the help of tools, and will also interfere with us during further disassembly of the electric motor block.

To get to the motor mounts and then remove it, turn the juicer over and unscrew the bottom screws with a screwdriver (usually there are 4 of them). Then remove it and unscrew the screws securing the wire blocks from the back side so that you can completely free the bottom and put it aside.

Now remove the drive disk from the motor shaft, holding the reverse side of the shaft from turning (if the disk is secured with a screw or nut). Or push it up if it is simply pressed tightly onto the shaft without additional fasteners.

Remove the casing of the electric motor block by unscrewing all the existing mounting screws, disconnecting all the handles with switches that interfere with removal and freeing the wires.

Unscrew the screws securing the motor control board and move it to the side.

After this, nothing prevents us from unscrewing the screws securing the electric motor itself, of which there are usually 3-4 pieces, and then removing it.

To remove and inspect the rotor, unscrew all the screws on the motor housing and disconnect the brushes with wires. Remove the rotor and inspect it for visible damage. Check the condition of the bearings by turning it several times with your fingers. If everything is in order with the bearings, the rotor should rotate for a long time by inertia, and not stop immediately.

Inspect and check for serviceability everything you can. Clean the surfaces from dirt and dust with non-aggressive solutions, test all wires, motor windings and control board elements with an electrical tester.

Solder, clean and replace anything that needs replacing. In general, do everything possible to find and eliminate possible faults so that disassembling the engine block is not in vain.

Hand press

The easiest way to acquire a device for squeezing juice is to use your grandfather’s experience. In ancient times, an ordinary wooden trough and a chopper (a special knife for chopping hard fruits and vegetables) were used to chop pre-peeled apples.

The pulp prepared in this way, packed in canvas (gauze), was loaded into a wooden tub under a press. To drain the juice into a specially prepared container, a hole was made in the lower part of the tub. Any heavy objects, for example, a couple of boulders, could be used as a press.

What will it take to convert an old meat grinder into a juicer?

In fact, this task requires very little. Everything has a place in any apartment, all you have to do is get a sieve that needs to be inserted inside the juice outlet. Many people used to make juice using a meat grinder, after washing it, and simply grinding juicy fruits. The result was juice with pulp, which is very popular in the West. But if you slightly modify the meat grinder, you can easily create a juicer that will produce 100% juice without pulp. To convert a meat grinder into a juicer you will need:

  1. Old domestic manual meat grinder.
  2. A drill with a drill bit that can make holes in metal.
  3. Metal tube.
  4. A strainer for one-time brewing of tea in a cup, or small sieves that can easily be attached to a metal tube.

Thus, you will need very little and everything available. If you cannot find a strainer for one-time brewing of tea in a cup, then it can be replaced with any other sieves - the main thing is that the sieve is strong and can withstand the pressure of the pulp.

Other types of units

You can make other types of juicers yourself.

Press juicers are good friends of winemakers. A screw press is best suited for pressing grapes. Depending on the grape variety, different principles of berry processing are applied. White grapes are pressed only after crushing. The red is pressed only after the fermentation process has begun.

The press operates according to the following algorithm. First, the grapes are placed in a basket, then a screw mechanism presses juice out of it, which can be used to make wine, a variety of drinks, and jelly. You can prepare a grape press with your own hands from wood, plastic or stainless steel. The easiest way to implement it is from wood. Made from stainless steel, the device will be of higher quality and more durable.

The production of a press juicer is shown in the video.

From a meat grinder you can make an auger-type juicer with a medium capacity. Rotate the handle and get juice. This mechanism is optimal for processing small volumes. The main advantages are affordability, reliable design and the possibility of long-term operation.

Washing machine drum press

The design does not require a motor, electricity or complex parts. The bottom line is that a centrifuge is a sieve made of stainless steel - an inert metal ideal for working with tartaric acids.

  1. Remove the centrifuge from the tank, clean and descale it. Cut off the inner edge.
  2. Weld a frame and a stand for the press from a metal corner. Drill a hole in the frame for the screw. Weld the nut to turn the screw.
  3. Make a tray for draining juice from a sheet of metal or find a ready-made option.
  4. Cut a circle out of metal along the diameter of the tank and weld it to the screw.

By turning the screw, the press lowers and presses on the berries; the liquid comes out through the holes in the tank, collects in a tray and is poured into a suitable container. This allows you to squeeze the juice yourself without effort and in large volumes.

Chopper (crusher) for apples, fruits, vegetables and grapes powered by a drill with your own hands

This is the cheapest method, since you do not need to buy an electric motor, order parts from a turner, etc. A chopper for apples and grapes can be made from a plastic bucket.

1) Plastic bucket

Buy a 20 liter bucket. Remove the plastic cover and handle - you will no longer need them.

2) Cutting knife

To make a knife, take 3mm stainless steel and sharpen it on an emery wheel. Weld a tube in the center and a hexagon to the end of the tube so that the knife axis can be well clamped in the chuck. On the back of the knife, weld a piece of metal that will cut the path downwards for the knife. (See photo)

3) Cover

Make a lid out of stainless steel or plywood with a hole in the middle. Make clips on the lid so that you can fix the lid on the bucket. Screw the centering sleeve made of friction plastic to the cover with 4 self-tapping screws. Cover the lid made of plywood with varnish.

4) Footrest

Screw the footrest to the bottom of the bucket so that the bucket does not rotate while chopping apples. The platform can be made of stainless steel or 10 mm plywood. Varnish the plywood.

5) Use only a powerful, high-quality drill or hammer drill in drilling mode.

To simplify the production of a crusher for apples and grapes, you can buy such a crusher entirely assembled in our online store or order from us the most difficult parts to manufacture and source materials (for example, a knife and a bushing). This is very convenient to do when purchasing a press, since everything will fit in one box and you will not have to overpay for the delivery of 2 goods. As a result, you will have a ready-made juice extraction kit. All that remains is to assemble the chopper with your own hands.

Making a grater

The standard centrifuge cannot be used as a grater and requires modification. Standard holes, which are used to drain water during spinning, will not cope with grinding. There are several options to solve the problem. Among them:

  • make a steel lining from stainless steel, drill holes and fill teeth, secure it inside the centrifuge;
  • install a mesh on the walls of the centrifuge, which will serve as a grinder;
  • Drill out the standard holes of the drum and fill the notches with the sharp part inward in the direction opposite to its movement.

Housing installation

The drum with the grater is mounted in the tank. For this purpose, fasteners and ball bearings from the washing unit are used. Fastening is performed depending on the characteristics of the donor car. The assembled structure is placed in a vertical housing, which is closed with a removable lid with latches or a thumb-type fastening. A hopper is inserted into the hole in the lid on top, where vegetables and fruits are placed for chopping.

To prevent the apple bin from sinking down to the grater, a limiter should be provided. The body itself is mounted on a rigid or shock-absorbing base. The main thing is that the device does not lose stability from vibrations during operation.
