How I use a net for vegetables on the farm: 7 non-obvious ways

Drainage for flowers

So that indoor flowers grow well and do not get sick, I cover the bottom of the pots with a net for vegetables. The mesh layer (compacted) is approximately 5 cm. Excess water drains off instantly. I recently replanted a grown dracaena. For 3 years, nothing happened to the mesh: it did not rot, did not crumble, it looks like new.

MATERIALS FOR MANUFACTURING DECORATIVE FLOWERS FROM FABRIC

Mesh (fabric, knitwear)

Beads

Various decorative elements

First you need to decide on the size of the flowers and draw a template with five petals. This will be the final size of your future flower. My template is 4.5 cm in diameter. Then you need to cut out 7 flowers from the mesh. The more fragments there are, the more magnificent the flower will be.

Fold them 4 times and secure with needles. In the center of the photo there is a flower, on which a setting is made at its very base. This is done using a regular needle and thread.

This procedure must be done with each fragment, and then connect them at the base, forming a flower.

I decided to decorate the middle a little by decorating it with leftover lace.

Then I planted a bead in the center of the flower and this is what I came up with.

It turned out to be a very cute little flower.

Washing white socks

Washing white socks is not that easy. There is no point in loading them into the washing machine. I buy a special stain remover soap for them and wash them by hand. Works well in combination with a brush. But there is an even better way. You need to wrap the soap in a net and secure it with an elastic band for money. The mesh adds rigidity. No more need for a brush. With soap in a packaging net, I wash not only socks, but also collars and cuffs of shirts, armpits of T-shirts, work clothes, and children's tights.

Original ideas

  1. Welded mesh will help you create real works of art. This way you can create a flowerbed-picture. The living landscape on the grid is simply framed by a wooden frame.
  2. Various original frames can be made from the mesh. It is not necessary to carry out simple projects - a beautiful butterfly with outstretched wings may appear on your site.
  3. Using mesh you can make excellent topiaries. Creating shapes from vegetation will become much easier. All you need is a net, support, imagination and plants with flexible stems.

Particular attention to gabion

From French, “gabion” translates as “stones in nets.” Structures of this type have been used for a long time to strengthen slopes, roads and embankments. But recently they have been actively used in parks and gardens.

You can use this type of mesh to create flower bed borders, wall supports, fences, garden benches and tables. Gray pebbles, dark granite, light sandstone, and colored stones are used as fillers.

Important! The diameter of the filler must be larger than the diameter of the mesh. In this case, he will not get enough sleep. The design of flower beds can be absolutely anything - from simple to intricate in the form of spirals. The flowerbed furniture looks original. Of course, it is not suitable for home. But in the garden it looks impressive. In addition to the flowerbed, you can make a fence or place a castle made of gabion on the site.

There are 3 main geometric shapes of gabions: cylindrical, box-shaped, flat. Moreover, they can be mesh or welded.

Box containers can have the following dimensions - length from 2 to 6 meters. Width – 1-2 meters. The height should be 0.5-1 meter. If you decide to make a larger flower bed, you will have to install special partitions - diaphragms. The boxes are made using mesh or welded methods.

  1. The welding method involves welding rods that are located at the intersection points perpendicular to each other. In this case, the grid cells will be rectangular. The walls are connected using wire.
  2. The mesh method involves attaching a mesh to a frame. The cells will have a hexagonal shape.

Box-shaped gabions are used to fence flower beds. Among other things, they are actively used for the production of furniture in the recreation areas of the site.

Filling for toys and pillows

So I decided to wash an old toy – a soft bear – in the washing machine. When I took it out, I was horrified to discover that the bear had noticeably lost weight. All the filler has gone astray. Then I ripped it open along the seam, took out the old stuffing and threw it away. I stuffed the toy with a clean vegetable net. The bear was as good as new. My daughter didn’t notice anything (it’s her favorite toy). Did the same with old decorative pillows.

Large nets for vegetables

Large mesh vegetable bags should not be thrown away. You can store vegetables in them, transport things and objects. Packages of 5 and 10 kg are made of bright polymer fibers, which are characterized by high strength. Use this material to create useful things.

From large vegetable nets you can make:

  • decorative pillowcases. Trim the seams on the packaging, unfold the honeycomb material and sew multi-colored covers for sofa cushions;
  • basket for dirty laundry. Make a wire frame that imitates a cylinder. Pull the mesh fabric over the frame, sew the edges, providing tension to the product;
  • bag for toys. Place a wire bent into a circle or rectangle into a mesh bag. Place such blanks throughout the product to give the package the shape of a cylinder or oblong box. Make a hole on one side where the child can put away his toys.

Mesh packaging for vegetables and fruits can be useful in the household. Give elastic bags a second life by using your imagination. From fruit and vegetable nets you can make convenient sponges for washing dishes, beautiful decor for gifts, containers for storage and transportation.

Egg cutter

This idea is more of a joke. I saw it on the Internet. You need to wrap the boiled eggs (peeled) in a net and squeeze with force. The eggs will pass through the holes and come out in small pieces.

Peeling vegetables

It may seem strange, but the grid works well for this too. It will allow you to quickly remove dirt from fruits and vegetables, even from hard-to-reach places, so you can finish cooking faster. It works according to this principle:

  1. Cut out a small piece of mesh.
  2. Rinse the fruits under running warm water, lightly rubbing the material over them.
  3. Rinse fruits and vegetables in clean water.

Finally, all you have to do is wash and dry the mesh, after which it can be reused. This method works especially well with root vegetables.

Protection from petty pranksters

Every year I grow several sunflowers for the children to eat. I remember how we loved to eat sunflower heads as a child. But not only children, but also sparrows are hungry for seeds. To save the harvest, I tie the heads of ripening sunflowers with a net. Not too tight. It scares the birds, and all the seeds remain intact. By autumn I will definitely be collecting the net. When frosts arrive, I tie it around the trunks of young apple trees. I have as many as 5 of them. Not a single hare mouse has been chewed yet. And the neighbor is in for a real attack! They gnawed the bark right down to the branches.

Openwork Christmas tree made of threads

The technology is similar to the long-known method of making openwork balloons by winding threads with PVA glue onto balloons.

We roll a cone from a sheet of whatman paper. Either the sheet itself or the finished cone is completely covered with tape (it’s easier to paste over a sheet). This is necessary so that later it is easy to remove the tree from the base.

At the bottom of the cone we make cuts at intervals of approximately 1.5-2 cm.

This is done so that the thread can be pulled through them. When a ball is wrapped with thread, it is similar to winding a ball of thread. But here you need a little more manual dexterity to pull the thread in different directions.

We dilute PVA glue in a bowl with water to the consistency of milk. Now the main thing begins - we make the Christmas tree itself, pulling the thread through diluted glue and wrapping it around the cone. The work is wet and sticky, so it's worth taking care of work clothes and newspapers for the table.

Despite the fact that diluted PVA seems too liquid, when it dries, the threads will acquire the desired stiffness. Regular thick threads are best suited for this work, but leftover floss and wool are also suitable. You can experiment with different colors, thickness and texture of threads. I made my Christmas tree from traditional New Year's flowers - white and red.

When the creation of your hands has dried, the cherished moment comes - you need to carefully separate the paper cone from the “Christmas tree” itself. To do this, cut off the edge of the cone with the cuts through which the threads were pulled. Then we carefully turn the paper cone inside - it should come off easily if you have covered it well with tape and there is no “naked” paper anywhere.

We treat the bottom of the tree with gift ribbon. This can be done by sewing the tape with a needle and thread, or you can simplify the procedure and do it with a stapler.

We put a garland inside the tree. A garland like the one in the photo is easily held inside the cone due to plastic stars and flowers. A garland with simple light bulbs can be secured using small Christmas tree decorations and bells that have wire antennae, or you can use regular paper clips

One, two, three - the Christmas tree is on fire! The lights, passing through the thread frame, will give whimsical reflections on the table and walls, creating a romantic holiday atmosphere

PS By the way, if you show your imagination, you can create many interesting things using this method of wrapping threads. For example, you can create an openwork heart for Valentine's Day - heart-shaped balls are not difficult to find. You can string threads with beads and feathers inside these valentines - it turns out very beautiful and original. And in the art studio we once assembled a whole sheep from such thread balls (it was the year of the sheep then).

Sieve

Last year it was necessary to sift sand at the dacha. My husband shot a potato mesh bag onto a wooden frame. Before that, I folded it in 4 layers and stretched it well. It turned out to be an excellent sieve. In the summer I prepare a green infusion in large bags. I fill the net with grass: nettle, comfrey, clover, wormwood, various weeds. I put it in a 50-liter barrel of water. To prevent the bag from sinking, I tie it to a stick, which I place across the barrel. After 2 weeks, I simply remove the mesh and the fertilizer is ready. There is no need to strain the infusion (go ahead, try straining 50 liters). How else can you use a vegetable net? In addition to the methods described above, there are several more. I think many people know about them. But just in case, I’ll also describe them.

Suddenly, someone thought about using grids for the first time:

  • Storing onions, garlic, flower bulbs. If the mesh is intact, then you can continue to use it for its intended purpose. Vegetables do not rot in it and are stored well all winter.
  • Washcloth. You need to cut a strip from the mesh. Roll the main part into a roll. Use a cut strip to tie a roll in the center. Or initially take two meshes - a larger one and a smaller one. Makes an excellent washcloth. It’s better for her not to wash the dishes, but buckets and garden tools are fine. I also like to use a washcloth to wash potatoes and carrots. It cleans dirt well from the recesses on the peel.

  • Crafts. The vegetable net can be used for creativity. It is bright and voluminous. I've seen some parents use it for kindergarten crafts. You can make a Christmas tree from a green mesh, a pumpkin from an orange mesh, and flowers from a multi-colored mesh.

We recommend: How to unscrew a drill and change the drill without a key?

I am sure that the vegetable net can be used for other purposes. Every housewife has her own secrets. I decided to reveal them. It hurts to think that some people throw away such packaging. It rots for hundreds of years and pollutes our planet. If you don't need it, throw it in a plastic collection container. The material from which the nets are made is recycled. They then use it to make cheap buckets, scoops and other necessary things!

Single-level and multi-level flower beds

A single-level flower bed is a frame in which plants are located at the same level. But you can make planting much more interesting if you use multi-level flower beds.

They are a cascading variety of flower garden. It uses a mesh to create steps of different heights. Unlike the raised one, it is characterized by a clear separation of the landing zones and the space underground thanks to the steps. So in a flower garden you can plant completely different plants, which differ in their requirements for soil moisture and acidity.

Holiday decor

A tulle flower will help you decorate your home for the occasion; a master class on how to make it is available to everyone. Buds suspended from the ceiling look very elegant and stylish. They can be created from tulle, paper, napkins and fabric.

What you will need to make such an unusual decoration:

  • Threads.
  • Fatin.
  • Scissors.
  • Stapler.

The manufacturing process is very simple. Many round parts of different diameters are cut from tulle. Then, several pieces at a time, to make the flower lush, connect the elements with a stapler in the middle. Straighten each layer with your hands, attach a rope and hang it from the ceiling at different levels.

This decoration is perfect for creating decorations for a birthday. In pink for girls, in blue for boys.

Description of work:

  1. We cut 2 strips of tulle fabric along the entire length (the width of the first is 6 cm, the second is 8 cm) (Fig. 2).
  2. We layer each one in several layers (Fig. 3).
  3. We cut off the top of the structure in a semicircle (Fig. 4).
  1. We light a candle and, without bringing it close to the fire, carefully process the resulting strips (Fig. 5).
  2. We take the thinner end of the strip and twist it along its axis, constantly forming identical frills on all edges (Fig. 6).
  3. At the very beginning, we secure the strip with small stitches (Fig. 7).
  1. This will be the middle of the flower (Figure 8).
  2. We take the lining material and cut out oval-shaped petals, then we also process the edges with a burning candle (Fig. 9).
  3. You will get petals like this, see Fig. 10.
  1. Securely sew the petals from the back edge of the tulle core (Fig. 11).
  2. We take the previously made sap of petals, 8 centimeters long, and fasten it around its axis with frequent stitches, not forgetting to make uniform frills (Fig. 12).
  3. We evenly distribute the petals under it and sew them to the lining material (Fig. 13).
  1. We give the appearance of an arc to the decorative cord by folding it several times (Fig. 14).
  2. We sew together each base of the arc (Fig. 15).
  3. Sew this part to the back side of the flower (Fig. 16).
  1. Cut a circle from a piece of leather. Instead of leather, you can take any dense fabric. We bend the circle in two and make two cuts so that it looks like in Fig. 17.
  2. Insert a pin into the resulting slots (Fig. 18).
  3. Glue this structure to the back edge of the flower (Fig. 19).
  1. We wait for the glue to dry and carefully straighten the petals around the entire circumference of the flower.

Our brooch is just lovely! All that remains is to attach it to your favorite outfit and go charm the world!

When is it appropriate to use metal mesh in interior design?

Creative designers and architects are constantly searching for original and interesting materials to create impressive and memorable interiors. Metal mesh, which is used for fences, allows you to create unusual pieces of furniture and decorative elements for colorful bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes, clubs, barbershops, boutiques, hotels, sports clubs, photo studios and home interiors.

Here are a few examples from the photo archive of projects of the “Grid SPB” company:

Egg slicing

Do you need to prepare a lot of dishes, but are desperately short on time? You can speed up the process if you have some vegetable mesh. With its help, you can cut hard-boiled chicken eggs, which is much faster than grating them. And everything works extremely simply. All you need to do is place the egg inside the mesh and press it through. Everything will take a few seconds, and you won’t have to use a grater, knife, board or other kitchen utensils, which means you’ll also save time on washing dishes.

How to make a poinsettia with your own hands

Artificial poinsettia flowers are used as New Year's decorations. They decorate gifts, Christmas trees, and make wreaths from them.

I offer several simple ways to create poinsettias with your own hands.

Ribbon poinsettia

For New Year's decor, you can make a poinsettia from ribbons 5 cm wide - silk or satin. For a flower, cut out several types of petals. The minimum quantity is like mine:

  • 3 pieces - 5 cm long,
  • 5 pcs – 6 cm long,
  • 5 pcs – 7 cm long.
  • It is better to cut flower petals from segments diagonally.

    Make 2 cuts along the edges of the poinsettia petals and melt them over the fire to form cloves.

    Then make veins on each petal, heating the folds over the fire, like ordinary leaves.

    Types of decorative metal mesh for design

    To decorate a room, designers often use two types of grids:

    • TsPVS mesh (solid-drawn expanded metal);
    • decorative chain link mesh
    • woven mesh
    • welded mesh.
    GRID VIEWWELDEDBRAIDEDNETWORKTsPVS – expanded metal
    Decorativeness+++++++
    Ease of processing (cutting, bending, fastening)+++++
    Weldable++
    Maintaining strength during use++++
    Price+++++++

    Chain-link mesh in the interior is not used as often as expanded metal or welded. This is due to the fact that the TsPVS mesh has greater functionality and is considered the most durable among other types of meshes. Its advantages include:

    • lightness and strength;
    • resistance to mechanical stress and elasticity;
    • ease of transportation and installation;
    • the ability to create welded structures of any type.

    TsPVS mesh is a unique, inexpensive material that allows you to decorate the interior and furnish the room according to the latest trends. Its only drawback is its higher cost compared to other types of mesh, but its decorative and performance qualities, as well as the ease of processing and manufacturing products even at home, more than make up for this drawback.

    Decorative tree

    To create such a luxuriously flowering tree you will need a base. This could be the trunk of a dried tree (and you won’t have to uproot it). If such a tree is not in the right place, find it somewhere else and dig it in. Fix it securely in the soil. The lower part can be covered with crushed stone and even filled with cement mortar. We hang pots with wildly flowering plants (for example, petunia or sulfinia, etc.) on large tree branches.

    Protection of trees and shrubs

    Mosquito nets can be used to sew bags that are popular in agriculture to protect against bees, wasps and other insects. When grapes and fruits ripen on trees, insects and birds cause serious damage to agriculture. You can protect the crop in a simple but effective way: by placing small bags on clusters, branches or individual fruits.

    Animals made from corrugated sheets

    We cut out animal figures from corrugated sheets and paint them with metal paint. If the figures are small, you can paint them with spray paint. Very simple and interesting technology, the decor is impressive.

    To make flowers from scrap materials, you can use cocktail straws, nails, and even aluminum cans. From such containers you can also make candlesticks in the shape of flowers.

    Many people love flowers. But these charming creatures of nature fade over time. To make them delight you for a long time, make them from durable materials. Then you can admire flowers at any time of the year. Some plants make great gifts, others? decorating your home or garden.
