Who said that children who, due to age, do not go to kindergarten cannot take part in the New Year's carnival? A colorful parrot costume is perfect for your little one. You can make it with your own hands from a bright-colored jacket with a hood. To do this you need:

• cut 15 cm wide strips of different colors from old clothes or foamiran rolls (in the latter case, you won’t have to process the cuts);
• cut out identical triangles from them at equal distances to create an imitation of feathers;
• sew them along the side seams of the jacket and sleeves;
• cut a tail from fabric;
• attach colorful feathers to it;
• sew the resulting tail to the back of the jacket;
• stick large eyes on the hood;
• make a beak as described above;
• sew it to the hood;
• complement the jacket with brightly colored trousers.

If the jacket does not have a hood, then you can make a headdress from a children's baseball cap. Her visor is painted a bright color. The eyes are glued on, and a plume of feathers is attached to the top of the head.

What you need to create an outfit

Bullfinches are birds with a special color.

Therefore, for sewing you will need felt of certain colors:

• red;
• orange;
• black;
• light gray;
• dark grey.

For decoration you will need white and black felt, as well as brown floss threads.

Pattern of parts

What details need to be cut out:

• silhouette of a bird (head, body, tail, beak) – 2 pcs.;
• breast – 1 pc.;
• head – 1 pc.;
• beak – 1 pc.;
• wing – 1 pc.

2 parts of the bird silhouette need to be transferred to light gray felt. The wing is cut out of dark gray material, and the head is made of black. Transfer the breast pattern onto red felt. Cut a beak in the shape of a triangle from orange fabric.

Connecting elements

How to sew all the details:

1. Glue the orange beak to one of the parts of the bird's silhouette.
2. Sew a red breast to the same part.

3. Then sew on a black head and a dark gray wing.
4. Connect both parts of the bird silhouette, sew them together with a blanket stitch, leaving a hole for stuffing.
5. Loosely stuff the bird with padding polyester.

Sew up the hole.

Decor

Procedure:

1. Cut a small circle from white felt.
2. Cut a smaller circle from black felt.
3. “Moment” glue the black circle on top of the white one.
4. Glue the eye to the bird's head.

Using brown threads, sew a line on the beak dividing it into 2 parts.

Lively eyes for animals: we paint them ourselves

So I’m ready for my first master class. Please do not judge strictly; I will be glad and grateful for constructive criticism.

I came to painting peepholes after a long search, trial and error. At first I used ready-made German glass eyes, but I didn’t like many things - limited color range, in addition, they are very bright, monotonous and expensive. I read about sticking printouts on glass, about painting plastic blanks, but I found the best way for myself - I paint glass cabochons by hand. Transparent glass cabochons are easy to find, they are inexpensive, they come in different sizes, they are an ideal hemisphere in height, and you can use round or oval blanks in shape.

So let's get started. To make eyes, we will need: an idea or a blank animal (I never do it for future use; I paint the eyes individually for each little animal) and the following materials and tools:

Acrylic paints for glass and ceramics, pearlescent acrylic paints, and you can also use regular acrylic, but under no circumstances paint the pupils of your eyes with it! I tried, when further painting, the pupils painted with ordinary acrylic “led”, like this:

That’s why I always paint pupils only with glass and ceramic paint, and I recommend it to you.

Everything is extremely simple and ascetic - cabochons for painting, brushes (I like a miniature flat synthetic brush and a thin one, No. 1) and toothpicks. Toothpicks are a truly versatile tool that is used in many crafts, techniques and products.
