What is special about this product?
Unusual handmade crafts are not only a special gift, but also an excellent element of the interior of any home. The uniqueness of a gift lies not in what it is made of or how, but in what person it came from.
To surprise your loved ones with such a gift, just choose a ready-made version of the craft, and if you want, you can come up with something of your own. Unusual gifts made by children will be of particular significance.
Stand made of stones
In independent creative work, stones can be used (river or sea pebbles, small pieces of crushed stone, natural glass beads). To make a convenient and functional stand for the kitchen, pebbles are best suited, since the stone has a smooth surface.
Also, for a master class on creating crafts from natural materials, you will need silicone glue, a rubber or wooden base.
Instructions on how to make a craft from natural material with your own hands:
- The prepared pebbles should be washed and dried thoroughly.
- A layer of glue is applied to the selected base, and then pebbles are laid out in rows or in the form of a concentric circle.
- Each pebble must be lightly pressed against the base to fix the parts in one position.
- It is better to fill the free spaces between adjacent stones with silicone glue or sealant to give the kitchen stand greater strength.
The stone has all the positive properties: strength, resistance to moisture and high temperatures, resistance to corrosion and decay, and the ability to withstand significant mechanical loads. Such a stand for hot dishes will become not only useful, but also a very stylish accessory for the kitchen and dining room.
What are they made of?
To create the most interesting and unusual gift, you don’t need anything special. After all, any material you like is suitable for creativity.
For beginners in this business, as well as for children, it is best to craft without using special tools or equipment. For example, children can easily, without much difficulty, make a craft using:
- Scissors;
- Needles;
- Thread;
- Glue;
- Papers;
- Cardboard, etc.
The use of more serious, specialized tools (drill, burning machine, glue gun and others) in work is not possible for everyone, especially children.

Why paper crafts?
If you look closely, most of the crafts are made of paper. The fact is that this is the most accessible material for their preparation. There is a wide variety of unusual paper crafts that are made using metal:
- Quilling;
- Origami;
- Scrapbooking;
- Papier-mâché and many others.
After all, the simplest paper product made using the origami method, for example, will become a wonderful decoration. With its help you can make the following unusual products.
Decorative fungus
- For the base - 8 twigs crossed in pairs. During the weaving process they need to be extended.
- To give the hat a semicircular shape, the work must be done on a cup.
- The leg is made of 5 twigs. First, they need to be pulled apart in different directions, secured with a clothespin, and then bent over two.
At the end, the strips are smeared with glue and glued to the wrong side. The same thing happens with the leg - it is glued to the cap.
You can also make a craft house from paper tubes.
The house craft will decorate any interior and will be a kind of amulet.
Volumetric wall decoration
It is made from paper squares that need to be connected on cardboard.
- The elements need to be assembled in the form of a pyramid, connected to each other.
- The figure must be repeated several times, using different colors.
- This effect will give the resulting panel its own zest and originality.
- To turn a wall decoration into a painting, you need to place the product in an appropriate frame.
Beautiful frame for a mirror
A mirror in a hallway or bathroom can be made much brighter by using wood cuts for this purpose. The sizes of cuts can vary dramatically, so both large and miniature branches are used in the work.
Step-by-step instructions on how to make a craft from natural materials:
- Immediately before starting the creative process, you should select whole branches and logs, without signs of rotting or traces of pests.
- The workpieces are thoroughly cleaned of bark, debris, and sawdust. Next, thin cuts are prepared using a jigsaw, the surface of which should be sanded. The photo of crafts made from natural materials shows that all parts are thoroughly cleaned of gaps.
- A thick layer of glue is applied to the mirror frame.
- The cuts are laid out in any order you like (in rows, in the form of diagonal stripes, circles or intricate patterns). At the same time, each decorative element should be pressed against the base to improve the adhesion of the wood with the adhesive.
The next task of the master is to protect the decorative frame from moisture and pathogenic fungi. To do this, the already fixed cuts are coated with moisture-resistant oil, and after it is absorbed, 2-3 layers of transparent acrylic varnish are applied.
Presents for Valentine's Day
A heart made using the origami technique will be an ideal and unique gift for your loved one. With its help, you can convey the feelings that a person experiences towards the person for whom it is intended.
To prepare a symbol of love you will need:
- Paper of different colors;
- Glue;
- Cardboard;
- Beads and rhinestones optional.
You need to cut out hearts from sheets of paper of different colors; a small cut is made on each of them at the top, and then it is folded inside the product. After this they are glued together. The finished hearts are attached to the cardboard using glue in a chaotic manner.
Gypsum, concrete and cement
Gypsum, concrete and cement are not just building materials; they can be used to create amazing sculptures and various crafts. Those who master this art will be able to make dishes, vases, and decor for their home and garden. The main thing to remember is that cement and gypsum harden quickly, so you will have to think through the layout of the product in advance. And be sure to follow the proportions of the mixture.
Cement and concrete must be diluted with sand and water. If gypsum is added to the mixture, it will harden much faster. After the masterpiece is ready, it should dry well, and then it can be painted and varnished.
- Gypsum is often used to decorate rooms. The stucco molding is first made, and only then attached to the wall or ceiling. Plaster can be used to fill special molds or coat objects, for example, a hand - a stand for displaying jewelry. Or you can fill a regular glove with plaster, shape it into the desired shape, and wait for it to dry.
- Concrete and cement are excellent materials for garden sculptures, flowerpots, fountains and other decor. Even if you don't have a penchant for sculpting, you can create interesting products. You can take the most ordinary things as a basis. A simple rag placed on a bucket and falling in folds will turn into a figured flowerpot after pouring cement. And it’s easy to make a ladybug or a mushroom out of concrete; even a beginner can do it.
Origami style lampshade
This unusual craft will look quite impressive and beautiful. To make it you will need a very thin sheet of colored cardboard, which needs to be folded several dozen times in different directions and in different directions.
After the paper is ready, it is necessary to form the lampshade in the form of a cylinder, the edges of which should then be glued together.
What crafts can be made from natural materials for an exhibition?
Here are the most complex works that, in my opinion, deserve to be exhibited. To make the work better, parents can help their children cope with this difficult task.
For working with stones for an exhibition. The stones must be carefully prepared, washed, dried and, if necessary, baked in the oven to kill any bacteria remaining on them.
What stones don’t turn into, into balloons, owls, fish, sea turtles, and of course people.
Topiary made from dried lemon, orange, grapefruit or lime will also look interesting; the result is a delicious citrus tree.
Works from living and dried leaves and flowers, which are made very carefully, are generally aerobatics.
The selection today turned out to be quite large and varied. As they say, for different tastes and colors. Share below in the comments what you liked and what kind of work you would like to do!??
I also recommend looking at animal crafts made from plasticine. For today I say goodbye to you, until new master classes!
Unusually beautiful flowers made of paper
Using paper, you can make almost any flower; for this you need beautiful, bright paper, as you can see from the photo of unusual flower crafts.
Among the most common are:
- The queen of all flowers is the rose. To make it, you need to take colored paper and cut out the required number of blanks from it. Each of which will then need to be tightly twisted. Then lightly untwist it again and connect it in the shape of a rosebud, resulting in an unusually beautiful rose.
- Another option for making a rose is to use corrugated paper to create it. In order to get a lush bud you will need 12 circles, each edge of which must be sharpened and glued, so you get one row. For each subsequent number of circles will increase.
- Edible colors. For such an unusual craft, you need to take candies, there will be as many of them as there are planned roses for the bouquet. Each candy, pasted over with prepared petals, will serve as the core of an unusual flower. For the stem, you can take a regular skewer covered with a strip of green paper in a spiral.
These are just some of the ideas for creating unusual paper flowers that will be an excellent gift for your mother, grandmother or sister.
Applications from seeds
Some of the most famous natural materials are seeds of plants, vegetables and ornamental crops. Most often, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and various legumes are used to make paintings and appliqués.
Also for work you will need a base (cardboard or a sheet of plywood), glue, and a scattering of pistachio shells.
Instructions on how to make a craft from natural materials:
- The selected seeds should be placed on the selected base, forming a preliminary pattern or ornament. You can take a finished sketch as a sample.
- The finished layout must be photographed to make the work easier.
- All details are removed from the base.
- For convenience, a novice master should divide the base into squares. Next, each square is treated in turn with glue, and then the seeds are laid out with tweezers, forming the final image.
To create one picture (applique), a variety of seeds and beans can be used. As a decoration, it is recommended to apply glue along the contour of a sheet of plywood or cardboard, and then lay the shell halves along the edge. With a light pressure of the hand, fix the shell on the adhesive base to create a beautiful frame.
Quilling - as a way to create unusual crafts
Using such an unusual technique, you can make unusual children's crafts of completely different types and levels of complexity. It’s not difficult to learn how to use it, the most important thing is to want it.
With its help you can make both flat and volumetric products. Absolutely any material can be used for this. The main criterion for them is practicality and unusualness.
Among this type of homemade creativity are:
- The craft is an organizer, made from different materials - wood, plastic, foam, and so on.
- Stand for sweet desserts. Most often, wood is used as a material; a craft made from this material will look very attractive.
- Baskets for various needs. Such products are made mainly from paper, rope or wicker.
- Panel. Also, anything can serve as material for this unusual craft - scraps, pieces of paper, decorative ribbons, beads, rhinestones, stones, etc.
Any material can be an excellent material for creating a unique masterpiece, the most important thing is to use your imagination and you can act. It doesn’t matter what or how it’s made – the most important thing is with soul.
Tree
People have long learned to work with wood. At first they built houses and ships, log houses and mills from it. But the tree could not remain without the attention of people with artistic taste and abilities. Amazing wood crafts have become symbols of many nations. And looking at the finished masterpieces, it is sometimes simply difficult to believe that all this was carved from a piece of wood, a trunk, a branch or a stump.
- Useful creativity. Those who have learned to work with wood can easily put together a birdhouse or stool. For those who are familiar with carpentry, it will not be difficult to make a bench for a summer house, a children's swing, or a fancy lampshade. Carved boxes and stands for hot frying pans, furniture and dishes will be useful in the house.
- For decoration. It all depends on the flight of fancy and the ability to work with wood. Objects planed from wood can decorate walls, carved figurines will become a stylish decorative element. But a special impression is made by wooden openwork birds, which have long been learned to carve in Rus'. But on a personal plot there is no price for wood products - they can be decoration and flowerpots at the same time.
- Sculptures. Wooden sculptures come in two types: specially carved according to a template or made from an intricately grown branch or stump. In the first case, skill is required, in the second, imagination. Cutting out an interesting figure from a finished sketch is a whole science. But what masterpieces are made from driftwood that “looks like something.” The main thing is to see this similarity, competently process the finished “layout” so that others notice it.
- Matches. Yes, yes, the most ordinary matches will be an excellent building material; they make amazing crafts. Even small children learn to make them. Remember what makes the best needles for a plasticine hedgehog? That's right, from matches. But those who are seriously interested in this art will be able to make palaces and models of ships, unimaginable panels and animal figurines, artistic compositions and even chess. Some masterpieces take years to create, others can be done in just a couple of hours. But the result is always impressive.
- Natural materials. With a creative approach, you can create unique products from a wide variety of gifts from nature. Cones are great for children's crafts, New Year's decor or various figures. Baskets are woven from pine needles and various panels are made.
- And acorns will come in handy if you want to teach your child to work with simple creative objects.

Tips for beginners
- To make crafts you need ordinary cotton wool, which you can buy at a pharmacy, and PVA glue. When creating three-dimensional products, the glue is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:3. Each piece of cotton wool is dipped in the mixture or applied to the surface with a brush and glued to the base. If the part is fluffy, you need to add PVA.
- You can roll a cotton ball with your hands dipped in soapy water.
- When creating a multi-layer craft, it is necessary to dry each layer. Important: you cannot place wet work on a radiator or stove, otherwise the cotton wool will wrinkle.
- For the frames of the figures, wire or paper and tape are used.
- How to paint cotton wool? For voluminous crafts and applications, you can pre-paint the details with watercolors or gouache diluted in warm water. Paint is most often applied to the figures after the product has dried.
- Hairspray is used for fixation.

Here are some ideas for decorating a House of Prayer for Harvest from Valentina Tyshkun, the city of Zdolbunov, the Church of the Resurrection (Ukraine). The decor uses antique household items. Below are a few ideas from Alexandra Knaus from the city of Saran (Kazakhstan). For the harvest, a well was made from meter-long logs; the main element of decoration was hay. Well. Throughout the House of Prayer, wreaths wrapped in hay were hung everywhere, with burlap bows on them. How to decorate a church for Harvest
Decorating the church for Harvest is a tradition of many churches. At this holiday you can always see a lot of ripe vegetables and fruits, ears of wheat and... whatever you can think of! We present to your attention a selection of photographs from the 2009 Harvest Festival at the Parousia SDA Church, Auburn, Washington, USA.
The centerpiece of the stage is a huge painting specially painted for this event.
The stage floor is covered with colorful autumn leaves - a great idea! On the left, as you can see, there is a decorative fence, in front of it there are fruits and vegetables in baskets. Decorations also include fresh and artificial flowers.
The painting was painted by church member Viktor Semin.
And this is a decorative fence. Those who wish can take photographs, such as this group of “grandmothers” in headscarves.
One of the decorations of the hall is a clock with fruits. Clocks remind us to cherish time.
Another corner for photos is a table with bread and a jug of milk.

Some ideas for decorating a church for the Harvest holiday
Here are photographs from the Harvest holiday, taken in different churches and in different years. This valuable material was sent by Valentina Frolova, Labinsk, Krasnodar Territory.
In the photo below: a basket with fruits in Krasnodar.
Idea from the church in Zhitomir (Ukraine). The rain of God's blessings for our planet turns into a river!
This idea was repeated in Labinsk. The globe was made from construction foam. They turned over a large vat, wrapped it in film, then wrapped it with wire over the film (they made a frame), after which foam was used. When the foam dried, the resulting hemisphere was removed from the vat and painted.
Another idea from the city of Labinsk, Krasnodar Territory (2013).
Below is a photo from Moldova. The showcase is decorated with bunches of grapes, the inscription is made of red tomatoes.
Harvest in the church in Berdichev, Ukraine.
This is also Ukraine.
